I am a Methodist so I strongly reject his false teachings on limited atonement, absolute predestination, irresistible grace etc.. all of which pop up in his commentaries not surprisingly. DON'T let that deter you from buying this volume set though.
Is John Calvin a christian? He is. His commentaries are very informative and I actually AGREE with a lot of what he says. He never brushes off passages of scripture as myth, folklore or as the mere opinion of the writer intermingled and mixed into the word of God. I strongly believe if John Calvin was alive today he would believe in Inerrancy (which is a good thing).
No wonder James Arminius recommended John Calvin's commentaries to his students.
