Editorial Reviews
Review
"A biological thriller that mixes a series of "what-if" scenarios as it moves from New York to Europe in the blink of an eye." (Kirkus Reviews)
"A Brilliant Thriller... The Calypso Directive drives home the point that it is not what you write about that matters, but how you write it. Even if you're not into thrillers, keep him on your radar." (Cornell Daily Sun)
"The Calypso Directive was so good on so many levels that I'm certainly looking forward to another outing with these characters." (Charles De Lint - Fantasy & Science Fiction)
“Fast-paced and thought-provoking, The Calypso Directive is a dark tale of hubris, and the irrelevance of the individual in a culture driven by science-for-profit and science-for national security. Very believable, conceivable, scary, and real. A rocket-sled ride of a debut by Brian Andrews.” (Joseph Heywood )
“A smart, hard-driving thriller. Andrews fires on all cylinders in THE CALYPSO DIRECTIVE.” (New York Times Bestselling Author, Grant Blackwood

Will Foster is a beguilingly charming hero. He reminds me of Harrison Ford in the Fugitive -- always on the edge of being caught, but somehow, through sheer will to survive combined with an uncanny ability to evade capture that seems to surprise him and the reader both, he manages to stay a step ahead...almost...until all the competing forces converge in an eye-popping, cold-sweat-inducing, electrically charged climax that left me feeling like I was the one dodging bullets and running for my life! Pack this in your beach bag this summer and dive into a first-class adventure.
This book rivaled the best Dan Brown novel and has introduced a protagonist in the Tank that Ludlum would have been pleased to have incarnated. The Calypso Directive is a well researched and balanced journey between history and and the hot issues ripped from today's headlines. A day after completing the book, NPR featured a story on HeLa cells which I had first learned of from reading it.
I read this book on my Kindle and blew through it in a few days. The good guys have fun toys and technologies that we wished currently law enforcement had access to and the villains are dark and driven enough that the reader will shudder when reading some of the more evil scenes.
It was a fun ride that leaves you waiting for the sequel and his sophomore effort.
