I wondered how they managed to do this without any special Apps, so I tried pushing the button when it wasn't in camera mode and discovered that it's actually seen as a virtual keyboard control that has only one button, which triggers the volume button. As you know, most smartphones use the volume as a shutter so it simply triggers the volume when you hit it... which triggers the shutter in camera Apps.
This makes shooting selfies so much easier.
The darn thing works like a charm. I due to
Parkinson's disease have tremors of both arms and hands. I purchased the iPhone 6+ because of the image stabilization which helps but still shows motion which often causes blurring on both still shots and video. I'm not trying to produce works of art here just an occasional photo to send to my daughter, selfies for use on face book and deposits to certain accounts. I must use a table top tripod with phone adaptor and being able to control the camera on the phone with this little gizmo has been fantastic. Secondly using the phone with FaceTime has become so much easier for me and the person receiving the call. No more blurring. Again fantastic.
The remote is as simple to set up with your devises as it is blinking. Turn on the Bluetooth connection in settings, turn the remote on and wait for the remote to appear and pair. Point the remote anyway near the phone or whatever, press the button to start and press again to stop. So far it's worked every time I've used it.
The only negatives I can come up with are the size and the battery. Because it's so small it's going to be difficult not to lose it. They include a little strap for easy handling but still nothing to help store it for safe keeping. Secondly the battery isn't a standard type so replacing might be difficult. If the unit works like other Bluetooth units I don't believe that this will become a problem. Most likely when and if the battery dies because of the relatively low price it's probably going to be easier just to replace the remote.
I'm sure you already know everything about this remote from the many other excellent reviews but I had to put my two cents in.
The review was written without any financial considerations. The unit was purchased at full Amazon Retail.
I gave it away. This device is sturdy as the high dollar one, but guess what? It has a bluetooth
wireless remote that took only seconds to set up and made my life happy.
Great product and transaction.Thank you!
As for the tripod: It seems very sturdy in construction. The material is plastic, but very thick and the movements are not flimsy at all. I only have 2 complaints, though:
1) The clamp is very strong, so it takes a little more effort than I think is necessary to mount my iPhone 6.
2) The ball joint is controlled by a lever that is a little difficult to control. You have to hold the spring-loaded lever in one position that releases the ball joint, then position the camera the way you want, then release the lever to lock it in place. But in doing so, I'm finding the camera moves a little bit, so I have to do it again, ever so slightly. I'd prefer a screw type control. This is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5.
