    Anders Skrondal has research intersts in statistics, biostatistics, psychometrics, econometrics, and social statistics. He has published papers in more than 50 different scientific journals, in addition to several bestselling books and edited volumes.

    Skrondal is currently a Senior Scientist at the Division of Epidemiology, Norwegian Institute of Public Health. Previous positions include Professor of Statistics and Director of the Methodology Institute at the London School of Economics, and Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo. He is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute and the Editorial Board of Psychometrika and has served as elected member of the Research Section Committee of the Royal Statistical Society. Skrondal has been awarded the Psychometric Society Dissertation Prize, is an Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Fulbright Flagship Professor.

The Kindle version of this book is literally unreadable because the inline equations are fixed-size images that are less than 1/5 the size of the rest of the text. To read those equations you would need a magnifying class.This is a shame as the book's content looks very promising, but the publisher needs to take digital content more seriously before I could make any use of this book in its Kindle edition.

I'm finding this dictionary to be extremely useful in providing concise, understandable, and practical definitions of a myriad of statistical concepts. Wish I had had this book in hand all along, starting in college. I make it a practice of flipping the pages while commuting, just to learn/refresh my mind on the vast world of statistics.

Brian Everitt is a well known statistician and author. This dictionary was prepared by a scholar and includes many famous statistician as well as statistical terms. It provides concise and accurate descriptions and in many cases also includes pictures and formulae. Literature references are often mentioned. Particularly useful to biostatisticians. It is an excellent reference document.

An excellent yet concise encyclopedy of surprisingly wide range of statistical topics, very dense and ballanced text. Exhaustive descriptions and definitions on few lines of text with good referrences. I can hardly think of basic or advanced statistical terms not included here. Thanks.

The focus of this dictionary is mathematical statistics, not applied statistics, and is intended for graduates and professionals. The definitions are not simple and include lots of equations. There is no other dictionary like it and it has the potential for being developed into a very useful handbook. I think it needs a lot of work, though. First, the coverage is lacking. I could not find many terms that should be in a dictionary targeted at professionals (cf. Dodge). Second, many of the definitions could stand revising for clarity (cf. Upton & Cook). Third, while there are many figures, they don't always illustrate the point as well as they could (cf. Sahai & Khurshid; Upton & Cook).
