All of that is correct, and so far I've been happy. The only snag is the long other stuff pocket runs parallel to the bladder, and sometimes I've found your other stuff can stop the water getting to the hose connection on the bladder and therefore meaning you don't get anything to drink out the other end of the hose. This has only happened when the bladder isn't 3L capacity full, when I'm heading out for a quick session round the woods, but still a bit annoying. Solution is to reach back and squeeze the pack and bladder to push the water from the top part of the bladder to the bottom where the exit point is.
I don't pack the other stuff compartment full, just a phone and wallet. The front pocket has a few tiny tools and spare inner tube so not packet full either.
I'd still buy it as the price is good, a reliable brand, solid quality, but just change my approach a bit and get used to occasionally reaching back and giving it a squeeze.
Apologies if any of that sounded weird :)
My only minor complaint about the new pack is that I find it harder to purge all of the air out of the new style reservoir when filling compared to the older ones -- causing the water to slosh around in the pack. I will often perform a 2nd air purge during a break on my hikes or rides when the sloshing starts to annoy me. Overall, a minor issue.
I am really happy with this pack -- it is very comfortable even with a full load and it is clearly built to last many years.
I had filled the bladder with ice and water, but the back padding kept both the bladder and my back insulated from each other - no frozen spot on my back, and there were still ice cubes when I finished the race. Big kudos there!
One quirk: The drinking tube has a magnetic catch to aid in keeping it put - great idea, however the execution can be slightly awkward if you can't watch yourself take it out & put it back (it's not a flat magnetic area, there's a notched spot it needs to seat into). Camelbak: please take the notch away and just make the magnet a bit stronger!
Overall, I love the fit and features and would definitely recommend it again.
It has enough space for wallet, cell phone, and some other small items. I use it when I'm riding my mountain bike, or going on hikes that are only going to be a few hours. Generally speaking, if I'm going to be out for more than 4-5 hours I'll take a larger day pack that has more in the way of 1st aid and emergency supplies.
I got mine in orange. The color fades pretty quickly, and if you ever leave it sitting in water you'll notice that whatever dye is used leeches out pretty badly. 3 stars for that.
