This is a great camelbak, I seriously appreciate the detachable straw/tube and the large capacity. However, I do not appreciate how comically long the tube is, which may seem like a weird complaint but when trying to shorten it by looping it, the tube would often kink and stop the flow altogether. Additionally, while the detachable straw idea is a step in the right direction, it is somewhat negated by the fact that when its detached, the end of the straw is not closed, leading to the water in the straw flowing out into your backpack or whatever your camelbak is kept in.

However, these coplaints are very minor, overall, the product is a significant improvement to older models.

I have used Camelbak products since my days in the Army years ago. Three liters of water is heavy, so understand that going in. I live in Florida where you hydrate or die. I have hiked almost all of the 48 4k footers in the white mountains and I do not know why I waited so long to buy this. I will be taking it on every hike. I never realized how annoying it was to have to take off my bag every time I needed a sip of water. With the camelback I can cut way back on the amount of stops I am making on the trail, which means more summits! If you are a hiker you this is a must!!

Having used Camelbak backpacks and bladders for mountain biking over the last 25 years, I can't imagine using any other brand. In my experience they are taste free, leakproof, easy to fill and to clean and the latest Crux has a slightly wider tube and delivers more fluids per sip.
I recommend going for the larger 3l capacity as it covers all eventualities from a 2 hour ride to an all day epic. Excellent all round.

Nachteile der 2018 Version:1) im Hauptfach ist ein Zwischenstreifen , der das Reinigen erschwert, da er die Kammer teilt 2) der Schlauch & das Mundstück lassen sich mit der Auslaufsicherung nicht mehr so schon biegen , was die Wasseraufnahme während des Bikens nicht gerade vereinfacht 3) das Mundstück läßt sich ohne die Auslaufsperre nicht auf den Schlauch aufbringen , da der zu groß im Durchmesser ist 4) der Verschlußdeckel fällt jedes mal beim Entleeren / Reinigungsvorgang aus seiner mickrigen Plastikhalterung heraus
"Vorteil" :1) der Camelbak läuft nicht mehr aus versehen aus , wenn er zB. beim Transport im Auto auf dem Mundstück liegt .2) er enthält kein BPA- und ist phthalatfrei ! Von mir wg. den vielen Nachteilen daher leider keine Kaufempfehlung wie sonst bei den alten Versionen - eher auf andere Hersteller ausweichen!
NACHTRAG:Habe die Blase seit 1,5Monaten in Gebrauch - es bilden sich schon nach 2-3 x Benutzungen Belage im Inneren , obwohl ich nur Wasser pur trinke! Diese muss ich dann jedes mal nach Kukidenteinlage rausschrubben- das ist bei meiner alten Version 2007 NIE der Fall gewesen ! Wiederhole meine nicht Kaufempfehlung !

Der Schlauch könnte länger sein, aber es geht. Das mit dem Durchmesser vom schlauch ist aber nur die halbe Wahrheit - Nadelöhr bleibt das Mundstück und der Übergang von beutel zu schlauch. Praktisch ist die Öffnung zum einfüllen und deren schraubbarer Verschluss, das funktioniert besser als diese Schlitze, wie man sie von wiederverschließbare tiefkühlbeuteln kennt. Man sieht es auf den Fotos nicht, aber unterhalb der verschraubbaren Öffnung ist ein Griff um den beutel zu halten, da merkt man dass die sich schon was gedacht haben.
Update : der beutel bewährt sich gut. Lästig ist, dass oberhalb der Öffnung noch ein Zentimeter Spiel ist. Man kann den beutel beim Ausleeren drehen und wenden wie man will, es bleibt Wasser zurück. Ich stecke KüchenRolle zum trocknen hinein. Wäre super wenn die Stelle einfach verschweißt werden würde....

Vor einem Jahr habe ich das CamelBak als Ergänzung zum CamelBak-Rucksack gekauft. Der Rucksack ist klasse, aber das Reservoir ist indiskutabel. Obwohl es mehrfach mit warmen Wasser, kaltem Wasser oder mit Spüle ausgewaschen wurde, schmeckt das Wasser daraus grauenhaft - als hätte eine Chemiefabrik die Abfälle darin eingearbeitet. Dazu stinkt das Reservoir auch noch entsprechend. Ich finde das wirklich überraschend, da ich einige Leute kenne, die ähnliche Produkte, aber nicht das Problem damit haben.

Trinken kann man daraus jedenfalls nur, wenn man in der Wüste sonst verdursten würde, vom freiwilligen Trinken rate ich aber ab.
