I am replacing a very old reservoir that originally came with my camelbak pack. The quality and construction of this one is much better. The plastic in is thicker and the quality is more visual. The opening is stronger. Rather than just constantly selling what they've already created, they appear to be improving what was already great.

Quality used to be in every product but now it's a word I use less and less often. I think that any company that offers a lifetime guarantee knows that they are making a quality product. I am confident that I could run this over in my car and it wouldn't break. What else can you say that about? This was a good addition to my Eagle Industries AIII hydration capable backpack. I also ordered a CamelBak 100-Ounce UnBottle for use outside of my pack. Either way, CamelBak make superior quality products.

I climbed Mt Rainier with this hydration reservoir and wanted additional water storage without a lot of weight or frills, and this puppy fit the bill very well. It has proven to be very durable (even when I have dropped it and abused it on the mountain).

So why ding it for 1 star? This particular model claims to have a pure water taste without any plastic flavor. I did not find that to bear out, as I could taste the plastic in the water. I soaked it a few days with a couple liters of water and a few tablespoons of lemon juice and that has resolved the plastic flavor.

So -- great, inexpensive hydration bag. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I just recommend taking care of the plastic flavor before you use it.

This is my first bladder and i am extremely pleased. I use this primarily for backwoods hiking. This size might be a bit much for anything less. Good price, great strength and no leaks. I expect to be using this for a long, long time.

I purchased a Osprey Comet Daypack for hiking and bike excursions longer than 2 hours. The day pack had a pocket for a laptop; but, I figured it would also fit a spare Camelbak reservoir in the same space. The 72oz fits perfectly into the pocket, the drinking tube is long enough to poke out of the head phone hole at the top and secure on the shoulder strap loops, and I haven't had any issues with leaks. I still put the reservoir inside a x-large Ziploc bag just in-case. I wash it out before using and did not have an issue with plastic taste. I replaced the bite nozzle with the Camelbak 90512 Hydro-link conversion kit because I was worried about leakage down the road. Now debating if I should have gone with the larger size; but, I'm happy with the 72oz so far.

Size: 50 Oz. Verified Purchase
I bought the 50 oz size, since my last one's marking indicated it was 50oz, and it looked like the one pictured. I figured I'd spend the extra money on a real CamelBak one to make sure it fit my pack. What came was a completely different shape (about half as long and much wider). It did not fit in my CamelBak. I am not sure what size or type to get to replace my old bladder now. There are just way too many different variations in the CamelBak line, which I thought would have been way more standardized. I bought a generic army green bladder for a different pack, and I'm now thinking there's little advantage to spending the extra money on a CamelBak brand one. The generic one even has a better mouthpiece.

Bought this bladder to go inside of a camelbak backpack that I bought secondhand. We've used lots of these before so I knew what to expect, and this one did exactly what I need it to. The closure holds tight as long as you make sure the lid is on straight. The nice large opening makes it pretty easy to fill- just hold onto the plastic piece so that the mouth is open. The spout doesn't leak and is nice and easy to bite.
It did have a faint plastic taste with plain water the first time I used it, but that went away after a use or two without me doing anything about it.
The 50 oz size is a good one for me- enough for a few hours of hiking or biking without carrying too much extra weight. If you need more water than this, get a bigger bladder. My husband uses a 100 oz when we go out and he likes it just as much.
