I never wanted Camelot & Vine to end! A great twist on the Arthurian legend where Burchard manages to create a daunting yet exciting world... Besides the great protagonist, it is important to note that the writing in this novel...never strays away from being excellent. The pacing is just right and it never stops taking you where you need to go. This is the type of book I want to read all over again just because I was so interested in it so quickly. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in King Arthur, or anyone who feels that they need an escape from reality...
"...a clever intersection of a delightful contemporary heroine and well-researched historical fiction. The setting is lush and rich and the characters are familiar but fresh. It's filled with humor, myth, warmth, wisdom and a loyal steed! What more could you ask for in a book?" —Lian Dolan, LA Times best-selling author of "Helen of Pasadena" and columnist for Oprah.com
"This tale of an LA poser in King Arthur's court combines character-driven writing with great pacing and action. The fact that it also includes fascinating period details, a tweaking of ancient legend, and a sexy King Arthur for grown-ups makes it the perfect indulgence for those days when you just need to live in another millennium." —Margaret Finnegan, author of "The Goddess Lounge"

This novel will help you forget your troubles and enter a new world with interesting people who help you understand what it means to live a meaningful life." —Katherine Williams, reviewer, Readers' Favorite
"This captivating tale has it all: adventure, humor, love, and peril. A fresh take on the legend of Camelot." —Colleen Dunn Bates, Founder/Publisher at Prospect Park Books
"Oh, my, did I identify with our heroine Casey, wanting to hop on a plane and escape from an unbearable crossroads in life. But no matter where you go, there you are...which in Casey's case winds up being King Arthur's Britain after a magical horse ride transports her 1500 years into the past! Engaging characters and a never predictable storyline found me holding my breath as I followed Casey's (mis)adventures and journey of self-discovery. Fun, but not fluff." —Karen Z, Amazon reviewer
About the Author
Petrea Burchard began her career as an actor, starting on the Chicago stage and later moving to Los Angeles to work in TV and film. There, voice-over became central to her work.
But with a degree in Creative Writing, she's always been a writer. Auditions, jobs and the people she met (famous and infamous) were fodder for her Act As Ifhumor column at NowCasting.com, reaching 70,000-100,000 readers every other week during its four-year run. Her book, Act As If: Stumbling Through Hollywood With Headshot in Hand, is based on that column.
Petrea also drew on her acting experience to write her first novel, Camelot & Vine. During a summer Shakespeare course at Oxford, she fell in love with the English countryside, and there the story of a modern woman in King Arthur's war camp began to take shape in her imagination.
Other published works include short stories such as Portraits, in the anthology Literary Pasadena: The Fiction Edition; more stories at RoseCitySisters.com; and countless articles, listicles and online book reviews.
Petrea continues to work in voice-over and is known as the original English voice of Ryoko, the sexy space pirate in the anime classic, Tenchi Muyo!Currently she's the radio and TV voice a popular supermarket chain in southern California.
