More about this Items:
Off-Camera Flash Extension Cord is an extremely useful accessory for Canon digital & 35mm film SLR cameras, allowing an external flash to be used away from the camera.</strong> The flash can be located as far as 3 feet away from the camera and still perform all the automatic functions possible with flash photography.
Using an off-camera flash provides the photographer with the flexibility to direct light from a variety of angles, allowing simple but effective fill lighting for balancing outdoor shots or hiding shadows under harsh indoor lights. An off-camera flash is also an effective primary light source when less direct lighting is desired.
Top customer reviews
It came in a small box, about 6x2x2 and I thought (based on picture) there had to be a mistake. NO, its just carefully jammed in the box, and once you remove it, good luck getting it back in and flaps closed.
I removed it and noticed it was just like the canon one I had, a lock on the shoe end, -a slider not any kind of knob or anything just a simple flip of a lever and it was securely locked in place. The other end had a shoe for the flahs, and a tripod hole on the bottom. I tried it out with two different flashes, a Metz, and a Canon and both worked spectacularly. The cord will reach (with effort) to about 3 feet. I would like it if I could dispense with this heavy coiled cord, and use a smaller signal wire-- THats all there is running through the wire is a TTF signal and a trigger signal. The heavy work is in the flash--the power (battery) and actual guts are all in the flash. There is no need for heavy clumsy wire. Anyway, thats what it is so thats the way it is.
I would like to have an option of a longer wire, and less conspicuous. I know exactly how to do it, and with this costing under 20$, I will most likely experiment with different options.
If you need to put your flash on a bracket, this is the ticket. Anything else and the cord will pull the light stand over.
For the price, and for how well it works, its definite 5 stars. Thanks for reading.
What I can't live with is that every time I use it, I have to mount, unmount, remount the camera end several times, then mount and remount the flash on the other end until the pins decide to line up well enough. The shoes do not line up perfectly even half of the attempts I make. This makes the connection of the flash extremely unreliable. When they do line up, everything with my 430EXII works just fine, but I can't be messing with this stuff in front of clients like that.
I should have just bought the authentic Canon cord.
