A bit expensive and without making a bracket for the removed shelf, the old shelf becomes it becomes pretty useless. The company should provide simple flat "S"brackets to allow it to hang on the front. I drilled 2 additional holes in the old shelf to make mine work as a handy removable front shelf.
Fits easily and puts out a lot of heat. My infrared temperature gun was quickly maxed out [560 degrees] and out of range.
Grill is compact but will cook half a dozen burgers. Just remember to turn the heat to down to medium since this is a sear box and designed primarily for searing meat. My smoker cover fits over the new add on albeit snugly.
There is a learning curve i.e. Learn temperatures to remove food from the smoker so the sear box does not overcook it while searing it.
I found zero info, other than you have to learn for yourself.. Start at 20 degrees under done and then monitor temps when searing. Try one minute on High before rotating the meat. A mere 2 mins total per side will increase temp quite a bit. My propane tank will go a long way.
With this Sear grill attached to the smoker. it moves pretty easy with it on
Like I said they did there home work
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was i feel it's a little overpriced.
I use this any time I need a good sear on meat that I've been slow cooking. This includes using it to reverse sear items I've cooked sous vide in the kitchen. This thing gets awesome hot. And I don't have to light up a chimney of coals to get that beautiful crust.
,very smokin hot
