Rear projection works fine, but you'll need a more powerful projector than front projection.
Pros - It was easy to set up. The poles are decent strength/thickness. The screen is a very nice thick canvas. Our projector is just okay but the picture seems to show nicely on the screen. You could project from the back as well even though the screen (if you need that flexibility) canvas is thick, it just mutes the colors a bit.
Cons- Tear down was pretty tough... the little (very little) spring knobs that you typically have on tent poles when putting two pieces together are the primary method in putting this screen stand together. There were REALLY hard to push in enough on this. I had to use a tool to push them in far enough. They were really stiff and hard to push in. Maybe that will relax over time? Next... I worry about the plastic clips that are attached to the screen. They make it very easy to attache the screen to the stand but I can see these as being a potential concern for breaking. I plan on checking to see if you can order just these clips to have back up just in case. Lastly as with all outdoor equipment that comes in a bag... it always seems a little too small when you try and put things back in ;)
Here and there - VERY light wind can blow it over so if you keep it up I suggest anchoring it to the ground (it comes with anchors)
