In 2008, "Camp Rock" had its premiere on the Disney Channel and at the time, it became the second highest viewed Disney Channel Original Movie behind "High School Musical 2' and bringing in 8.9 million viewers.

The movie featured the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato and the film would catapult the acting and singing careers of both the band and Lovato who would go on to have their own Disney Channel show and for Lovato, would establish herself as a pop star.

Needless to say, with the success of the first film, there was no doubt that there would be a sequel and sure enough, in 2010, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" would air on the Disney Channel on Labor Day weekend and a few days later, would be released on Blu-ray and DVD. The film is directed by Paul Hoen ("Jonas", "Beyond the Break", "South of Nowhere") and features a screenplay by Daniel Berendsen ("Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie", "The Cheetah Girls: One World", "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch"), Karen Gist ("One Tree Hill", "Girlfriends", "Camp Rock") and Regina Y. Hicks ("Camp Rock", "Girlfriends", "Sister, Sister").

"Camp Rock 2 - The Final Jam: Extended Edition" features the extended version of the film which includes never-before-seen songs and scenes for "Different Summers" and "Waking in My Shoes".

VIDEO:

"Camp Rock 2 - The Final Jam: Extended Edition" is presented in 1080p High Definition (1:78:1). Because the majority of the film is shot outdoors, the film looks vibrant and colorful in HD. Especially during the performances at the Camp Star stage. Cinematographer David A Makin ("Drop Dead Diva", "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie") did a good job in capturing the overall performance area. The lighting was very well done during these performances and looks great in HD.

Camp Rock 2, well it's a wonderful movie for my tween daughters, especially with all the additional features and films at the end. The girls watched it from start to finish, which is a long time. Typical Fan kind of film with the talented Jonas Brothers. For parents, if you are not particularly into this kind of thing, I would say, leave the room. There is nothing to worry about as far as the content is concerned, it is a true "G" movie, it is a true tweens girl's movie however, so be prepared for squeals and screams and puppy love. Enjoyable coreography and music is a save.

This is an action packed dvd. Picks up, almost where Camp Rock, ends. Wonderful songs + super dancing, as well ! The Jonas brothers, Alyson Stoner + this all star cast, just lit the screen up, with their fantactic talent. Yes, even has a moral to the movie, don't give up ! A perfect family movie for all ages. This movie will, ROCK you, 2 ! You must check this movie out. Its a winner !

Waaayyy better than the first one in my opinion. Demi Lovato seems more herself in this one, and it's reflective in the music. The central conflict is more established and dynamic with multiple sides and views, giving the movie all around a more rounded feel. The appearance of all the Jonas brothers was nice, and also helped with giving the movie more substance. The absence of the whole "I'm a good singer, but I'm not going to tell anyone and instead cause major issues because I can't speak for myself or be able to be myself and not part of the populars" really helped the movie too

I personally find this movie better than the first one. There's more music, more dancing. BUT.

There are flaws.

As in, the bros weren't related in the first one, but they were in the second one.

I sense a flaw? I do.

"The whole reason I'm here- The whole reason my BROTHERS are here- Is to get to know you better."

Oh, Shane. You're stupid.

Disney Channel and tween stars seem to go hand in hand these days, and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is the latest attempt to cash in on this market. A made for TV movie that's a sequel to a made for TV movie, it takes up back to the title camp for a second summer of fun, music, and hard work. Speaking of hard work, the writers obviously put some into this movie because the story actually holds together better than the first one.

Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) is excited to be going back to Camp Rock. She's ready to have some fun, reconnect with her friends, and work on her music. Oh yeah, and Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) is coming back again this year, so they just might be able to officially start their relationship.

But it isn't long before Mitchie and her friends figure out something is wrong. There aren't as many people at camp this year. Seems everyone is heading to Camp Star across the lake. Camp Star is being run by Axel, a former band member of Camp Rock's founder Brown Cesario (Daniel Fathers). The first night, Axel manages to steal several campers and most of the counselors from Camp Rock.

The only reason Camp Rock stays open is because Mitchie and the older campers agree to take on counselor duties. But then Mitchie gets the idea of challenging Camp Star to a head to head musical showdown. Can Camp Rock pull off a number to save the camp?

My big problem with the first movie was a story that seemed to gloss over the needed resolution. While this movie doesn't have long drawn out moments, it does a much better job of showing us the resolution to the story so the happy ending doesn't feel forced. And there are some great moments in the climax that are merely pictures.
