If the can crusher worked 100% of the time, I would give it 5 stars, but the speed you get from being able to crush multiple cans is worth the occasional missed can, making it faster than any single crusher out there.
Overall, it works better than I suspected and I'm satisfied with it for the $20 I spent.
The cans drop straight down from the crusher, so if you mount the crusher flush against the wall, the container you are dropping your cans into needs to also be flush against the wall. If your dropping your cans into a round trash can, this is a problem; many of your cans will end up on the floor.
A little ingenuity offers a free and simple addition to solve this problem, but there's more way than one.
One solution is to take a scrap piece of lumber at least two inches thick to mount between the wall and the crusher. A couple inches is probably all you need to get the can to fall into the container. But I have a better trick.
What I did was took a flap from a cardboard box and made a chute. I took the lowest mounting screw out of the crusher, slide the box top flap between the wall and the crusher and screwed the mounting screw through the top center of the flap. Then I drilled two small holes through both sides of the crusher and the sides of the box flap and ran zip ties (screws may stick out too far and block the can) through to secure the box flap to the crusher and angle it outward from the bottom. Now my cans drop perfectly into the container.
Occasionally the cans will get turned upright in the hopper. Its a little inconvenient, but still way better than when they fall over on the floor before you stomp them and you have to bend over and set them back up.
a time, this is a breeze.90% of the time the cans fall in order.
The other 10% is no big thing.After I fill a 13 gallon bag(which
doesn't take long,since I drink beer,like it's going out of style)
I give them to people, who turns them into cash.
I also want to add, that this product does not work well with the
Coors Beer can,it's an odd ball size and jams a lot.Glad I don't
