From the Back Cover
After he broke out as the acclaimed drummer of the multiplatinum punk band Blink-182, everything changed for Travis Barker. But the dark side of rock stardom took its toll: his marriage, chronicled for an MTV reality show, fell apart. Constant touring concealed a serious drug addiction. A reckoning did not truly come until he was forced to face mortality: His life nearly ended in a horrifying plane crash, and then his close friend, collaborator, and fellow crash survivor DJ AM died of an overdose.
In this blunt, driving memoir, Barker ruminates on rock stardom, fatherhood, death, loss, and redemption, sharing stories shaped by decades’ worth of hard-earned insights. His pulsating memoir is as energetic as his acclaimed beats. It brings to a close the first chapters of a well-lived life, inspiring readers to follow the rhythms of their own hearts and find meaning in their lives.--This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

As a long time Blink 182 fan I've been dying to read this book since the very second I knew of its existence. You also get to learn about his home and family life, his drug use, about Famous Stars and Straps from its humble beginnings, his physical and mental recovery from the crash, and about Travis's childhood and how he came to be the hardcore badass drummer that he is.
This book is going onto my favorites shelf to be read again and again in the future. If you're a fan of Travis, Blink 182, any of his other bands, drumming, musical memoirs, or just raw and real stories you'll love this book.
Thank you Travis for sharing your life with us and for all the amazing music that comes out of you.
some kind of crazy genius, but his skill is pure passion for expression. I introduced my child to their music while reading through this book, and it helped to find in books what cannot be expressed through other forms of media alone.
I explained the difference in culture and environment causes one to express themselves differently, kind of like an accent, yet environment plays a role for sure beyond language. It opened up lines of communication that we may not have had opportunity to discuss.
WE LOVED THE BOOK ! God Bless. Thanks for sharing your experiences and how love and wisdom strengthened you.
I'd recommend this book to anyone. It's so much more than just another book about a musician, he is respected for good reason. He has a beautiful heart.
