The title of this review is from track 8 "New Growth". I think it sums up Southeast Engines new disc. I've been a fan since I picked up "Coming To Terms With Gravity" in 2005. While I haven't loved a few discs they've put out since then,"Canary" really blew me away. They put you right into the 1933 depression era while keeping this disc as modern as any. "Mountain Child" is such a beautiful song. My 12 year old daughter took it to her piano teacher to learn how to play it. The piano teacher fell in love with the song instantly. I was so surprised there weren't any reviews yet, I had to write one. There are tons of bands that capture the Alt Country/Roots Rock sound it's great to stumble upon one that really stands out. Hope to catch them live very soon.

Despite living in southeastern Ohio for the past ten years, it took a performance at Mountain Stage for me to discover this native band. I was so moved by "Adeline of the Appalachian Mountains" and "At Least We Have Each Other" that I immediately downloaded the whole album while at the concert. Despite more well-known acts on stage, this group stole the show. NPR has featured this group on several shows, so do a quick web search for more info.

Now this is one of my new favorites. The quality of this band is not easily matched. They are original, they just sound so real. Each song is a wonderful story not to be forgotten. It is hard to find bands that are so breath taking ........ this is one of those bands. Words can not describe how much this music now means to me.
