She was one of the first to help define the categories of fats into the types that are accepted today. Dr Budwig theorized that restricting the ingestion of the "bad fats" (trans-fats, hydrogenated and saturated fats), while at the same time ingesting plenty of the "good fats" (along with a diet of fresh living foods and juices) would rejuvenate even cancerous cells, oxygenating them once again and healing the sufferer in a healthy way from the inside. Her work therefore stood in opposition to medical orthodoxy with its preference for chemotherapy and irradiation and to the interests representing these.
She chose flax oil as the source of the most abundant supply of the good fats. She knew also that these must be bonded to sulpherated proteins for them to be made water-soluble and easily assimilated by the cells of the body. For this she used quark or cottage cheese (which contains an abundance of such proteins) in a certain ratio to the oil.
In using this Oil-Protein formula with her patients what she found was gratifying indeed. Over a period of approximately 3 months tumours gradually receded. The blood became a healthy red colour, anaemia disappeared and life-energy was restored.Read more ›

I believe that Dr. Budwig made incredible contributions to understanding the function of the human cell, applying formal scientific breakthrough principals of Planck, Wartburg, Einstein etc. as well as using paper chromatography.
Although I have a a masters in chemical engineering, it was very difficult to follow the science described . The book is not written in a logical sequence. .
After reading the book, the reader will not be able to apply the brilliant scientific discoveries for his/her own use.
Obviously Dr. Budwig proved to be able to make use of her discovery in a simple way to help people to recover from desperate illnesses.
The application of the discovery is not clearly stated in detail in the book, except one fact: flax-seed oil has to be taken by sulphurated protein, like cottage cheese. I expected more practical advice.
Her discoveries are more than 50 years old, and it's such a pity the medical community does not put any of it into practice, as an official protocol to treat cancer! In fact, it's a pity that this knowledge is not a must-read for every human being, for every student. If we all knew these facts, we would make other choices about food and lifestyle, and not so many people would not get cancer and many other diseases, to begin with.
I'm convinced that not only the cancer patients, but everyone should be following her diet and advices, in order to have a healthy lifestyle. My current diet is about 80-90% as that of Budwig's recommendations, and it is really not a difficult thing to do - I enjoy my diet and my choices!
And I recommend this book - Budwig's discoveries and recommendations - to every human being!
