I am sitting here an emotional mess after reading this book, which I read in a whopping less than 12 hours from the time it hit my ereader.
I have followed this series from the very beginning. I was among the vocal group saying that there was no way it could end after book 4. I was not shy or quiet about this. I cried when I thought it was over and I was not ready to say goodbye yet. And again, today, I cry, even knowing that we will probably hear from the characters again.
For those that have followed the series, Canes is an emotional roller coaster that most of us will not have felt prepared for. But is that a bad thing, or a good thing? I haven't decided yet.
In Canes, we see an evolution in relationships, both the ones we are familiar with and the ones that we thought we would never see again.
The sign of a good storyteller is when the story sticks with you and nags at you to revisit it long after you have read it. I suspect Canes, like the rest of the series, is going to be one that will cling to me and I will have to revisit it many times over. The series as a whole has become what I go back to when I hit a reading slump and find myself needing a story to go back to for comfort and familiarity. I hope many of you will feel the same way.
Thank you to the author for a copy to read and review.
I believe there is more story to be told and pray that Breeana feels so as well, because the ending did sort of leave you hanging and unless there is more books to come, which I believe there is, it wouldn't be a good final ending!
Overall I have rated the whole seers as five stars because it had great character build up, fantastic story lines, many adventures that you could follow, made me laugh, cry, yell at my book and everything in between, the range of emotional responses that it brought out of me were far beyond anything I had anticipated or expected! And because there is no foul language or explicit sex scenes it is ok for most age groups that enjoy the fantasy genre, and maybe even some that don't because it's not so far off that it couldn't happen, at least not most of it!
First of all, I have to say that this series is one of my very favorites. I have already read the entire series (minus this one) several times. I can't get enough. The characters are fabulous. You can help but to love most of them, and even hate a few.
This book was so good, it was really hard to put it down to have to deal with reality. I won't spoil it, but it was so good I will be thinking about it for days. It was so well written that at times I felt like I was really there. I will recommend this book (the entire series!) to all my family and friends.
