Product Description

The Canon EOS 6D is a full-frame 20.2MP DSLR offering exceptionally high image quality and detail while providing compatibility and convenience through its design and features. When paired with the powerful DIGIC 5+ image processor and 14-bit A/D conversion, the full-frame sensor is capable of recording vivid imagery with expanded sensitivity up to ISO 102400. The processing power also affords intelligent noise reduction techniques and the ability to record continuous still images at a rate up to 4.5 full resolution fps. The 6D employs an 11-point autofocus system for acquiring precise focus regardless of the shooting situation, which is further enhanced by a center cross-type focus point for improved low-light focus sensitivity. The iFCL 63-zone dual layer metering sensor also benefits from the autofocus system when making exposure measurements, and analyzes color and luminance values within the scene to determine accurate exposure settings.

I'm not a verified purchaser since I got this camera somewhere else. I have been a Canon shooter for the last 30 years (Canon 30D, 40D, 5D 1, 50D, 7D and now the 6D). The reason why I purchased this camera is to shoot weddings. I heard a lot of praises for this camera when it comes to picture quality even beating the very popular 5D II. So when I saw this camera listed with a 24-105mm f4 lens for less than $1500 it was a no brainer. The first thing I noticed was that the button layout was not the same as any of my former Canon cameras, so I had to get use to it.

The Playback button is where the famous and very popular joy-stick is on my other cameras. You have to stretch your thumb making sure not to mistake 'Q' button with the play back button. Then after hitting the button, you have to hit another button to enlarge by 40x then use the control wheel to keep enlarging. To me this is very awkward but I guess I'll guess use to it.

There is no White Balance button so you have to hit the 'Q' button to get to the menu and chose WB from the Menu. To me, this was another perplexing thing to get use to. The top shutter speed for this camera is only 1/4000 while all my other cameras including the old 30D have 1/8000 shutter speed. There is no pop-up flash even though I would not call this camera semi-pro.

The Camera is very pretty light. Some might say that Canon used a cheaper plastic for the 6D. This is OK if you have to carry the camera all day long, but I like a Camera with a little more heft especially after paying over $1000 for it.

What this camera got going for it is Canon's color-science. The pictures are gorgeous !
I just wish the camera was a little quieter because when you are in wedding ceremony the clack, clack of the shutter can be very annoying to some people. Good thing there is a "Quiet shutter Mode" that quiets things down a little.

As usual the camera is lacking in features compared to Canon's competitors, but the pictures that come out it make up for that. All you need is a good set of lenses like the 24-70 mm f2.8 and the 70-200 f4 and you can shoot an entire wedding easy. Oh another thing the camera only comes with one card-slot so make sure you have backups in case thinks go wrong...
