I knew going in that the use of this adapter would have limitations, but it is a rather disappointment.

1. The EOS M strains to AF with modern EF lenses. You can hear the servo motors in the lens struggling, with medium telephoto lenses such as the 24-105L, and it makes the already poor battery in the EOS M drain much faster. Therefore, it is better to use MF than AF with this adapter. Since the EOS M has full-time AF for video, the idea of using this adapter was a plus, but the way it works is not good.
2. The infra-red beam to AF coming from the EOS M is blocked by larger lenses. Therefore the idea to use the EOS M with fast EF lenses indoors is defeated.

If you are shooting outdoors in good light, then this adapter may work, but do listen to your lens as the AF motor may be struggling. The adapter is well made and it does provide a small tripod collar. I would have given 4-stars had the price been around $100 USD.

The camera has it's flaws. Believe what you read about it's failings in low light - not wanting to focus. So the only reason to buy the EOS M in my view is to use your existing Canon glass with a mirror-less lens camera. This adaptor makes that possible. It works flawlessly with all of my OEM and after market lenses. I can see the EOS M working for me when I am out in the field backpacking, vacation traveling, etc. and this adaptor means I can take along a single wide range zoom, travel fairly light, and be able to make quality images. Will have to live with its poor low-light performance - or maybe bring along a flash.

Solidly built. Easy to figure out and use. Haven't used the tripod attachment yet but can imagine it will come in handy as the EOS M is seriously out-of-balance with most non-M series lenses on the front.

If you're getting the EOS M, you gotta have this.

I love this adapter, metal construction and a build worthy of L lenses. I have been using this adapter with the 70-200 f4l and it is a joy to use, it has a quality feel befitting the L series lenses and a finish that matches, back up a bit and you wouldn't really notice there is even an adapter attached on the non-white lenses. balance with the M isn't a problem for me, I shoot holding the lens where it meets the adapter and can easily turn the zoom and focus rings. with the tripod mount attached it is unobtrusive enough that I never notice it's attached and therefore never need to remove it.

Being OEM the transmission of lens data is seamless, the lens might as well have been built for the camera in the same way as any EF or EF-S lens is for an APS-C camera. When using this adapter the EOS M gets all the information its big brothers do, as such the in camera aberration and vignetting correction that is assigned to each lens works just like it is supposed to. With the L lenses mounted to the M with its digic-5 processor the image quality is first rate for a canon aps-c camera and with the magnesium alloy construction of the body together with this adapter the feel is above and beyond consumer ranges like the rebel and fit right in with the prosumer cameras like the 50D and 7D (not like the plastic of the 60D )

Overall it is an adapter, but a great one the likes of canon converters... It just works, day after day.

The EOS-M won't win any focusing speed awards, ever, but it's still a nice camera. With this adapter you can mount your EF glass and this makes it focus even slower, but ... that almost doesn't matter since we're talking the difference between "slow" and "slower" here and any action shots are already out of the question anyhow.

Being able to mount any of my Canon lenses onto this fun little camera, though, is worth a good deal to me as a user and this is a solid, well-built piece of equipment that I would recommend to other EOS-M users. The tripod mount is a nice bonus too ... nice work all around.

In my experience this adapter worked flawlessly with my canon 24-70mm f2.8 mkii, 40mm pancake, 70-200mm f2.8 mkii and 100mm macro L. not that i recommend attaching a massive lens to this camera because it is more like attaching a little camera to a massive lens. you may as well use your DSLR at that point. Although i found the combination with the 40mm pancake lens to be an awesome little kit, and the 100mm macro make for a great small telephoto. Its a great camera/adapter for travel.

So you finally decided on getting the EOS M (it's flaws considered). I assume you are a canon user, have a couple of good (canon EF/EF-S mount) lens lying around and would like to be able to use those on you EOS M. Just like me, you love your canon dslr but sometimes wish you can travel light but still be able to enjoy the canon ecosystem that you have grown to love. If you are what I assume you are, get this lens adapter.

I took a gamble and bought a "like-new" used from a seller at Amazon and was very happy with a purchase. For anything more than $150 I probably would think twice. But I am not taking a start out because of the price. This adapter handles every canon mount lens I threw at it. The build quality is nice. The design (the way it attaches to the eos m; the included, detachable tripod mount) is well thought of... just perfect.
