A Smarter Camera Means Better Photos and Videos

Smart AUTO

Getting that great shot is as simple as pressing the shutter button on the PowerShot ELPH 135 camera. Smart AUTO automatically detects scenes by assessing various factors in both the background and the subject and analyzes them using 32 predefined shooting situations. The camera then makes optimal settings to ensure the best possible image capture, whether you're shooting stills or video. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.

Shooting Modes
Smart AUTO The camera automatically selects the best shooting settings for optimal quality based on subjects and environmental factors to provide point-and-shoot simplicity.
Program The camera automatically and intelligently selects the aperture/shutter speed combination based on the shooting conditions.
Live View Control Enables Brightness, Color, and Tone adjustments to your images using easy-to-understand controls.
Digital IS The camera digitally corrects image blur by analyzing the subject prior to choosing the best correction method.
Portrait Brings the subject into focus while beautifully blurring the background.
Low Light For high quality image capture in an amazing range of dimly lit situations.
Fisheye Effect Now you can get the fisheye effect – a classic photographic distortion – without a fisheye lens.
Miniature Effect Give images a miniature look with an effect that emphasizes perspective by blurring the top and bottom of the image.
Toy Camera Effect Simulates photos taken with "toy" or pinhole cameras, darkening the image at the edges to create a vignette effect.
Monochrome Choose from three single-tone effects: Black-and-White, Sepia, or Blue.
Super Vivid Super Vivid intensifies existing hues, saturating the scene with bright colors.
Poster Effect Poster Effect combines several similar shades into one color, turning subtle gradations into eye-catching, scene-popping contrasts.
Snow Shoot clear snow scenes without darkened subjects or an unnatural bluish tint.
Fireworks Create brilliant images of skyrocketing fireworks.
Long Shutter Use to blur moving subjects for artistic effect, ideal for urban night photography.
Movie Record video; unwanted scenes can be deleted in playback mode.

Actual results may vary from examples shown above.
Final image may vary depending on picture composition.

Say Goodbye to Blur

Digital IS

Digital IS beats the blur that mars many shots by recognizing the main subject, then automatically applying the camera shake correction that best suits the situation. If the subject is a person, blur reduction processing is performed. For landscapes, cityscapes and other still scenes, the camera takes 3 quick successive shots and composes them into a single clear image. If the subject is moving, the camera takes 3 successive shots and then automatically saves the clearest image.

More Ways to Get Creative

Creative Shooting Modes

The PowerShot ELPH 135 provides shooting modes that easily give your shots a distinctly artistic feel without the need for any extra lenses and filters. Super Vivid heightens and saturates colors for eye-popping intensity. Poster Effect eliminates gradations between colors for an illustrative feel. Miniature Effect enhances perspective in a scene, blurring the top and bottom to make it look as if it were created with miniature models. You can also make a quirky portrait using the Fisheye Effect or add a beautiful single-tone effect with Monochrome. Toy Camera Effect simulates a vintage look as if capturing the photo using a "toy" or pinhole camera.

A Charge that Lasts as Long as a Memory

ECO Mode

The PowerShot ELPH 135 features ECO Mode to provide more shots per single charge through LCD monitor and camera power management. The mode can be activated via a dedicated button for easy power preservation when you are out for the day or the moment is too important to put the camera down. ECO Mode quickly wakes the camera from sleep when a button is pressed so you won't miss the moment.

Help You Won't Need Help to Find

Help Button

The PowerShot ELPH 135 camera is designed to be fun and easy to use, even for beginners. A Help Button on the camera's exterior brings up the help menu any time you need it, right on the LCD screen. From here, you can scroll through a variety of topics that answer your questions with clear explanations, offer helpful shooting advice, and show you diagrams highlighting the position of any buttons you'll need.

I just got rid of my "nicer" Nikon because I got sick of messing with the setting and still getting blurry pictures. I wanted something that could fit in my pocket and take action shots of my kids. I read reviews of the various ELPH PowerShots, and they seemed to be mixed. The ELPH 135 has turned out to be the perfect camera for my needs. It fits easily in my pocket and takes perfect pictures every single time on the AUTO setting (no more guessing which setting to use)! I can freeze my daughter jumping in the air and the picture is perfectly clear. I absolutely love this camera.

I bought this camera to replace a few older model digital cameras- a Canon about 6 yrs old, and a HP camera about 10 yrs old that stopped working along time ago. This is by far the best camera so far for the price It takes great pictures on the auto feature, which is what I plan to use exclusively. It also takes clear shots with movement- such as trains and white water. Shots are clear even with user movement. It compares well picture quality wise for movement as compared to my manual Nikon using 400 speed film. The battery lasted 9 days of our vacation without a booster charge. It is easy to learn how to use and set the date, time, etc. It is small and light-weight- fits in my pocket or purse easily. Make sure you buy a memory card with this camera, as that is not included. Amazon sells these too and reminds you to add it to the cart at time of adding it to your cart.

Bought this for my Mom as a mothers day present. She loves it and has found it very easy to use. It takes great pictures. I did set her up with a couple of standard settings for indoor or outdoor. The auto feature seems to be a bit washed out in bright sunlight, so I set her Manual mode to be more geared towards that lighting. now she just has to switch between auto for indoor and manual for outdoor.

This camera took many awesome shots while we were on bumpy terrain on a bus in Alaska.
The wide lens feature is great and zoom is exceptional.
The only complaint I have is that they do not include an instruction manual with it. Very difficult to get
operating instructions on line.

I have had a new Canon ELPH135 for a week and have found a serious defect in the published steps for changing from one Shooting Mode to another. I typically shoot in low-light conditions, so I want to be able to set the several relevant features provided by this otherwise fine camera. After going through several Canon Tech Support people, I finally found one who told me the steps that actually work (the User Guide and the online Knowledge Base incorrectly say, press the Up arrow button several times to go to a different Shooting Mode; this only cycles between the two and only two of the 16 Shooting Modes that are supposed to be available): The AUTO Shooting Mode is always available and cannot be changed. Press the Up arrow button to go to the only other Shooting Mode. Then press (1) FUNC. SET button, (2) Right arrow button, and then finally (3) Up arrow button. This presents a vertical column of icons for each Shooting Mode. You can use the Up and Down arrow buttons to scroll through all the available modes. No matter what key you press after scrolling, including turning the camera off, you will find that the Shooting Mode you have highlighted will now replace whatever the second Shooting Mode used to be.
I hope that this procedure will be helpful to anyone who uses this camera, of whatever case color.

Easy to use, instructions easy to understand, photos great. I returned complicated Samsung with instructions so small they couldn't be read.

While I have only had the camera a couple of weeks it seems to respond well and in a way the descriptors indicated. The down time from picture to picture is greatly improved and certainly better than my previous Nikon. The only thing I would criticize is that no usb connector came with the camera. I had to buy one separately and I have had a very difficult time with my order from Amazon getting it to me.

I really liked the look, size and feel of this camera. It fit in my jeans pocket! I was excited to find a camera that small and lightweight for travel and the price was great. I wanted to like this camera.

And then I started taking pictures and they were very grainy. We tried troubleshooting with the manual and trying different settings, lighting conditions and so forth. I really wanted to like this camera. Despite our efforts to improve quality, it remained unacceptable. (One good feature is that we found this camera and manual to be pretty easy to navigate.) The quality issue was present even when pictures were viewed on a computer monitor. For comparison, the pictures were well below the quality that I take with my iphone 4S. If the picture quality had been even comparable to my iphone, I would have kept this camera for travel as keeping the iphone charged while sightseeing all day can be challenging, especially when using it for multiple purposes. I am not a camera snob so when quality is below my acceptable standards, beware. The result is that I am returning this camera. My old Canon Powershot A570IS with only 7.1 megapixels takes much better quality pictures, but is at least twice the size. I'm hoping this old camera will last through one more trip so we have more time to research small travel cameras.
