... my second camera from Cannon and although they have pretty great customer service
on March 11, 2015
This was my second camera from Cannon and although they have pretty great customer service, I will be trying a different camera brand next time I purchase. My issues are with the lens and it constantly getting jammed. It happened with my first Cannon and I sent it in and they repaired it under warranty no problem, but then it happened again outside of warranty so I waited a while and replaced it with this. I did my research and decided on this versus the model that came after it because the specs were almost identical. It wasn't too long after purchasing it that the lens jammed and I had to send it in for repairs. It was easy enough and customer service was helpful and apologetic so I didn't worry much.I got it back quickly and was told it was a common error. But then after getting it back a few months later it jammed again. I sent it in again and this time when I got it back I was told it was not a camera issue but they did a courtesy repair. I was so scared to use the dang thing since it was so finicky that I didn't touch it until about 3 months later when I went on a trip with my husband and low and behold, it jammed again. Of course by now the warranty is expired so when I sent it in for an estimation the repairs were going to cost $150. I could get a brand new camera for that price so I now have a useless camera with a jammed lens sitting in my night stand. I had it for 2 1/2 years and got to use it maybe 6 months total. When I looked into Canon deeper I found that their cameras are notorious for lens jamming which is why I decided to not purchase a camera from them again.
