If you're the type of individual that appreciates a high quality, well designed product on your desk, this is the right calculator. It's very solid, the materials are very nice, and the design is clean. The back of the calculator is matte finished anodized aluminum, similar to the back of the original iPhone. This contrasts nicely to the high gloss surface of the keys that have a subtle concave detail molded into them on the numeric keys.
Unlike the previous review, I like the size at roughly 3.7 x 6.2 inches because the individual keys are easy to use and the display is easy to read.
I purchased the white one originally for my home office but I'm going to go with the black one for the spot next to the Tizio lamp on my desk at work

I like the size, as it fits in my hand well. It's sturdy. . . The keys work well. . . They are individual keys, and you actually press-down on them (as opposed to simply touching them). . . . All of the "simple" keys to do what I want. . . I really like that it's solar-powered, so no batteries.

The only things that I would change: First, I would like for the screen to tilt. It actually shows that even though it's flat, that the screen is supposed to be slightly tilted inside the case, and I guess it is, but I would prefer that the screen physically tilt forward.

Also, like most calculators, it will eventually turn itself off after not being used for a bit. I haven't timed it, but I guess after a couple of minutes or so. But when that happens, it erases whatever you have in memory. I would prefer that the last item in memory would stay there.

This next part is really not an issue for me. . . but as someone already mentioned, it shows fingerprints and after a bit of use, it looks quite smudged. If things like that drive you crazy, then this is not the calculator for you.

Key presses are solid and distinct so you don't have to look at the screen to ensure entry was made. Keys are big enough to prevent fat fingering the wrong one. Screen is large enough where you don't have to squint. It's weighted so it doesn't squirm around on the desk. One of the best basic calcs I've come across. However, the real deal is finding a like-new one where they are massively discounted.

The only con is that these are solar panel driven only so in low light you will need to adjust it around. Not going to be an issue in the office obviously but could be at home if you're used to working in low light.

OK, I'll admit that I use this calculator mostly at night but the amount of ambient light this calculator needs to operate is unacceptable. I literally have to raise the dimmer switch on my desklamp to what I feel is an uncomfortable level just so the thing turns on. For the price, it should definitely include a backup battery. In fact Canon sells a slew of their own dual-power calculators for a fraction of the price of this thing. Looks REALLY good and buttons feel good too... but major fail in the function department.

Well built, stylish, calculator that would look great on any executive's desk but no way worth anything close to list price. Lack of screen tilt requires me to have to sit up and lean over the desk for better view of numbers. Bottom line: It looks great, feels great but lets face it it is a basic calculator. $24.99 would have been a good target retail value. If you paid less it was a good value. If you paid list price I hope you got the raise you wanted from your boss.

This was really hard to find, It was for wifey, but we both wanted different things.
She wanted a simple calculator that had more than 8 digits.
I wanted something that would last, and is -only- solar powered.

We both got what we wanted from this item.
The calculator itself is impressive; quite heavy, big, easy to use keys, and a sleek finish.
It exceeded our expectations.

This is a nice calculator, but the plastic case looks cheap. Remember that the calculator only works on solar power and has no batteries and in low-light Canon will not work.

Actually, the finish on my "premium black desktop calculator" has numerous blemishes right out of the box. They are kind of like abrasions or smears in the surface finish on several of the keys. They significantly detract from the appearance of this item. This thing just screams Made in China. It does have a pleasant "mod"-type design to it, and it has substantial weight and a nice slip-in case, but I have to agree with another reviewer that it is too big. It would have been more compelling at half the size (and better build quality). And keep in mind this is only solar powered, so unless you have it under a bright lamp or a sun-filled window, you're probably not going to have sufficient power.

For the price it is not worth sending back, but I was really looking forward to the quality product that was described by some other reviewers. The days of getting some amazingly constructed electronic device, built to last for years and perfectly packaged from Japan, seem long gone. I also recently bought an expensive Chinese-made Sony digital recorder (the PCM-M10), and it also has many blemishes and was in a shoddy box with sloppy inner packaging. I'm going to start avoiding all products made in China even if made by a reputable manufacturer. I have had reasonably good luck with things made in Korea or Taiwan.

As another reviewer noted with his packing, my security seals were cut open. Perhaps these are seconds or returns??
