When it comes to underwater housings, you often have two options: OEM housings that lack features, or aftermarket housings that dwarf the price of the camera itself.

As underwater photography is a new venture to me, I couldn't justify buying a housing that cost two times what the camera did or more.

I've been a Canon user for years, shooting everything from ELPH 35mm cameras, SD series point and shoots, EOS DSLRs, and now my G-15. I was more than comfortable buying the OEM housing and trust this to function as deep as I can dive within recreational limits (the limits of recreational diving are 40m, just as the housing is rated).

The buttons and dials are easy to use without wearing gloves. While wearing gloves, they can be a bit tedious, but with a bit of concentration I can adjust almost all settings. The housing does not provide access to the front control dial, nor the ability to turn off the pop-up flash once engaged.

Since there is no TTL support with the camera, I am working on putting together a strobe setup utilizing fiber optics. Since the housing is made from clear polycarbonate, I will using black fabric to reduce the effect of the flash for anything other than triggering the strobe.

The housing is simple, functional, and basic. A great way to get into underwater photography without spending a fortune. But professional underwater photographers will not be excited by the lack of features.

We recently took our new camera case on our 10 day vacay to Belize. We used it absolutely every day. The case was taken on and off several times each day due to our various activities. We ziplined in the rain and needed it but then it was dry on the hike through the jungle. We cave-tubed down a river and needed it but didn't need it afterwards at the zoo. We rode ATV through the jungle in the rain and mud and it was perfect, even splendidly easy to use as our guide grabbed the camera and case from us to be our photographer and he never even asked how to use it. Worked perfectly! Of course we also took it snorkeling 2 days, on a fishing trip and the kids played with it in the hotel pool. So many times on and off and never even the tiniest leak. And the pictures turned out crystal clear! Everyone we met was impressed :)
It wasn't a cheap buy (almost the exact same amount as the camera cost) but WELL WORTH IT!!! Will be taking on every vacation!!

I went to Cozumel for scuba diving and desiided to try some underwater photography. I have a great camera Canon G 15. Only I needed to get it under water. I've desided for Canon WP- DC48 case. I had a great time. Took it to depth of 20 meters and got some great pictures. I have found no problem at all with the product.
Highly recomend it. Can't wait for my next trip.

I bought the Canon G15 after having my G11 for four years...and this housing is very similar. I have not had a failure with either housing while my dive buddy has ruined two cameras. This housing is reliable as long as you maintain the seal which is straightforward and easy maintenance. Diving is great and I wouldn't dare go without a camera. This housing performs excellently!

I love my Canon G15 camera in this housing. It works great and is easy to use under water. Go Cannon. For a small under water camera, it takes great videos in the Caribbean.
