I attached two pictures of some of the vivid colors we get from this bright white paper. Be kind, the work is from my three year old!
This is a great paper for practice. It's finer grained than Strathmore cold press paper. At ~$8-10 for 30 sheets, it's really hard to beat this price/quality. I have a relatively dry style, so maybe that's why I haven't run into issues that other users did. So far, I've had no warping (using the presoaked paper) and no pilling. Paper takes lots of layers with no sign of damage.
I'm a newbie to watercolor and have been trying all kinds of stuff for the past 2 weeks and been very happy with the paper. Today I tried a wash technique for doing skies where you soak the paper and then add color. That's when the paper disintegrated on me - with just one layer of water. When I applied my color, it adhered to the rolled up paper chunks and became little blue dots on my paper. I had to wipe them off with a tissue, which left me with clouds, whether I wanted it or not.
If you are not doing any techniques with lots of water, then this paper is awesome. The paint spreads well on the paper and doesn't pool. If you use techniques that require more water, then I would stay way from this paper.
This paper is a good cheap option and I will continue to buy and use it for what it's good for. I'll use other papers for wetter applications.
-Don't over work the paper! If you aren't free-handing, sketch extremely lightly and keep erasing to a minimum.
-Tape (or clamp with binder clips) the paper down before you start painting!
-YouTube. There are tons of "Paint with Me" and "Watercolor for Beginners" video on YouTube if you want to get in some practice or just do some research.
I hope that helps!
Shipping was quick and item came just as described.
In the interest of fairness, though, I will say this is probably still good enough for people who just want to add a touch of watercolor to ink drawings or who don't rely on wet-in-wet.
but You'll have to tear the paper out of the pad in order to draw :(
but if you have a portfolio you can just slide your finished peice in there so... you'll be okay. :D
@ArtByRosieH on instagram, i use this paper alot, check me out :-)
i used this paper to do ' the mask ' drawing with sakura koi palette.
This paper is not stark white, more so an eggshell white.
This isn't an overly thick paper either, however, it is thick enough to avoid bleed-through. Depending on the amount of water used in an application, it will warp a little, but that is typical. Taping down the paper defeats issues occurring with warping or curling. Paint application is smooth and consistent. The quantity available in this pad, at this price, is impressive in itself.
I will be purchasing this product, again in the future.
