in the main compartment i can get my large zipper wallet (7x4x2) and a small ziploc bag with snacks, tissues, and still more room.
in the front pocket i keep a small note pad with pen, my flip cell phone, chap stick, and my ashthma inhaler.
In the back pocket i keep bus schedules, spare keys, mp3 player, toothbrush and small toothpaste.
even with everything i mentioned above there is more room since it is 7 inches high.
the buckle is near the left edge to make it easy to snap. I always hate trying to close in the back. the strap is very long and easily adjusts.
this seems to be very durable and i hope it lasts me many years.
as of oct 2013. still going strong. I added the rei bottle holder and a small (3x4x2)hiking pouch for my phone (the side buttons on the phone kept being pressed by accident so I wanted a separate area. More of a phone issue than bag issue) so i'm set for everything now.
This travel pack has plenty of room for the items that I carry with me, is convenient with its three pockets, and, if it's like my old one, will be very durable for a long time. The only adjustment I had to make was to the long waist strap. If you're a big, husky guy, you may need a long, husky strap for your waist. But at less than 100 pounds, I had a whole lot of strap that was going to dangle down behind me. Crafty creature that I am, I fixed that post haste. You know those plastic gun-like lighters that you can use to start a gas space heater, etc.? Well, I have one of those, so I cut the strap to the right length, used that lighter device to seat the cut strap so it wouldn't ravel, and it melted into a neat, sealed unit, just as I imagined it would. By the way, I performed this while holding the lighter and strap end over the kitchen sink in case it caught on fire, but it just slowly melted just enough as I passed the flame back and forth over the cut end of the strap.
Now, I don't think of the long strap as a negative. If I had been that husky guy I mentioned above, I would have needed every inch of that strap. By the way, the price was right. So I gave this fanny pack 5 stars.
