HADOUKEN! Alright, Alright so if you’re on this page you know what this is! You’re either a retro gamer, A collector, Or someone whose experiencing these titles for the first time (I wish I was) it’s a VERY nice collection with tons and tons of Museum pieces to learn about the history of each game. The presentation is crystal clear and you can literally customize it to your complete liking! Then why not a perfect 5 stars? Well….
There’s no new ground here. Aside from the unreleased darkstalkers title, Most have played these games in various other collections, But what baffles me the most is that this came out 2 weeks apart from capcom Arcade collection 2, Which included most of the games listed on here already! I feel like it was a bit of a cash grab to do that to the fans. I love old school capcom (You can only like current time capcom if you enjoy resident evil or Monster hunter since that’s all they seem to put their efforts on to these days)
It’s an amazing little collection, Is it worth $40? A little hard to say. If you don’t love retro gaming or are new to the genre in general this would exactly be the best place to start. The games are unforgiving in difficulty, Although you can change the settings technically but my kids tried at the lowest difficulty and failed. I can rock it with the difficulty almost all the way up so it’s honestly just a matter of patience and learning curves, Which you will get! But if you want a quick fix, Try Capcom arcade 2 on the digital storefronts. If you want some Hadoukens, Yoga fires, Vampiric and (oddly enough) Cyber mecha fighting, Then look no further! Beautiful graphics that can be smoother out in options or even made to look like the days of the arcade!
Great selection of games (Although a bit lacking on it being different properties rather than SF, Darkstalkers, etc)
The sound is top notch and everutging can be customized to your liking! All in all this is a very well rated 8.5/10!

And don't get me wrong, I'm an old Darkstalkers fan and was excited the second they announced it, but I was not expecting as much love and care put into the package as there was. The killer menu music, the snappy menu layout, the online lobbies and matchmaking and rollback netcode, the museum and music included and the ability to matchmake while browsing the museum all make for a very satisfying package. As far as the games themselves, they're all '90s arcade misfit gems. You'll find yourself gravitating to some games over others depending on personal tastes, but there is a lot to love here for fans of fighting games. Vampire Saviour aka Darkstalkers 3 is by far my favorite of the bunch. It shockingly hasn't aged at all, and it's one of the most fun fighting games I've every played. The music absolutely slays, and even my brother who normally plays first person shooters was having so much fun that he wants to continue playing it. I could go on about the animation and art direction and all that. It's a 10/10 fighting game, and I'd probably purchase this for that game alone. But then you've got Red Earth and Pocket Gem Fighter and Puzzle Fighter and the ultimate version of Street Fighter II and Cyberbots and the rest of the Darkstalkers series. all in perfect arcade glory. I am going to be putting a lot of hours into this little cartridge. Please consider picking it up on your system of choice if you care at all about the possibility of seeing a new Darkstalkers game.
