As progressives reject the Constitution to implement their socialist agenda, Congressman Ken Buck argues that we must reclaim our heritage of liberty by applying the principles we learn through the U.S. Capitol’s art, architecture, and artifacts.
Progressives in Washington have big plans. Plans to take over every part of the U.S. economy and manage Americans' lives. Embracing the Green New Deal, abolishing the electoral college, promoting late term abortion, and implementing socialism are just a few of the progressives' latest attempts to remake America. In the process, they abandon the Constitution and our individual liberties. Congressman Ken Buck argues that every American should rediscover our nation's unique freedom story.
This book tells the story of how our nation’s founders carefully designed a political system that would guard against tyranny and protect individual liberty. Using the Capitol and its features as the backdrop, Buck shows how our heritage as a free people is woven into every institution in America, and how progressives are attempting to undermine individual liberty. The book offers clear recommendations for steps liberty-minded Americans can take to reverse the progressives’ damaging course.
For all who are willing to listen, the Capitol speaks, showing how conservatives can halt the progressives' plans, preserve our remaining freedoms, and reclaim what we’ve lost.

I am a Korea war vet and love our service songs. There some songs that I did not care for however so many to chose from. On November 11 I will play taps in honor of my father who was in WW1 and all the others who served our great country. Most likely won’t be able to join a service this year.

Great read, fun and informative history of the Capitol and Congress, as well as insight for a conservative narrative on current events

An engrossing telling of American history through the art in the Capital building.

Congressman Buck's new book would be a good but not-great addition to the genre but for an interesting twist that makes the book stand out -- rather than give us the standard conservative retelling of the nation's origins, and why our Founding Fathers' genius was so brilliant, he uses the architecture of the Capitol and even the capital city itself to illustrate his points.
Right at the beginning of the book, for instance, he tells the tale of how Pierre L'Enfant, the Frenchman who had been commissioned to design the new capital city, decided to choose the tallest hill in the city for the site of the Capitol building: "Using the area's natural topography, he designed the city with equality specifically in mind. The Capitol building, the house of the people, would sit at the center of the city and on the highest point, rather than the president's residence, as would have been befitting in a European monarchy setting."
Buck is known as a constitutional conservative, and that comes through in the book. Chapters are organized around individual principles of American exceptionalism -- the system of checks and balances, freedom of speech and of the press, the right to bear arms, etc.
I found the book to be an interesting take on the standard history. The organizing device provided a new way of pulling disparate strands together, and made the retelling of the founding much more interesting -- and memorable.
I've found my Christmas gift for my professional colleagues. Highly recommended.

Capitol Of Freedom, by Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO), is an explicit overview of the US Capitol, and how its many statues and paintings document US history. Using a tour of the Capitol as his base, Mr. Buck adroitly leads the reader from one historical figure to another, all wrapped in appreciation of each characters contribution to the founding and success of our nation. Mr. Buck is a strong conservative, and he displays it thoroughly as he describes the founding of our republic. The book is replete with anecdotes of the nation's early years, with emphasis on the Constitution and the wisdom of its creators. All in all, this is a good book.

I do not normally read books by congressmen, but this one has an interesting hook. The book presents the history of America as a tour through the Capitol, which provides for a more engaging tour of our founding. Definitely worth a read.

This book is perfect for liberty seeking people who want to return to a life of self governance. Well written and researched by the authors. If you are troubled by the news of riots and Marxist protestors/terrorists, read this book and take control of our country’s future. An informed citizen is a powerful citizen. Read the book now.

This ghost-written paean to ignorance is a disservice to the trees that gave their life for it. Simply restating his confused ideals, Former Rep Buck does himself no favors here.
