About the Author
I was greatly influenced by my mother. Even though she was not well educated, her life left an indelible mark on me. After going through much pain and suffering, she was the first in our whole Hindu family, to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. I was an agnostic to begin with and i started to believe in the Lord as the only one who can take away my sins in the year 1977 when i was in my 7th grade. A miracle -- the appearance of a lost philatelic stamp -- gave me the needed assurance that i was dealing with a living God. But it was only in August 1989 that i, a prodigal son, surrendered my life to Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord when He rescued me from dire circumstances at a homeless shelter called Goodwill Home & Rescue Mission in Newark, New Jersey. I was then in the U.S.A working on my Masters in Computer Information Science. Though the Lord gave me a special two-edged sword, which exhilarated me beyond any measure, 1990 and 1991 were depressing years i spent time back with my parents. Daily devotional, "Streams in the desert," fellowshipping with the saints at Carmel & Hebron prayer houses in my native place and the Lord's Words like, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest," comforted me. He also nourished me intellectually with verses like, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13 NIV).
