I give "The Captain" storyline a five-star salute because Steve Rogers show us that even though he's not Captain America, he doesn't stop fighting for his country. Great story!
Complaints: Cap's corny exposition (like him pondering the legacy of the founding fathers during a fight in the white house), there are a few forced story elements towards the end to keep the arc going, and the writer adds a few of his political leanings in the writing (still not as bad as today's writers).
Bottom line: Great tale for any Cap fan. Great read for fans of Marvel's Civil War as it explains Cap's position during that story. Also great for USAgent fans (all 2 of us). I would have given it a 4 1/2 stars if Amazon would let me.
This saga was one of the great comic events of my youth, and I feared that perhaps nostalgia would color my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this story still holds up today. The artwork is nothing great, as these were the days before superstar artists came along and made action-packed (yet hard to decipher) pages the order of the day. The stories themselves, however, are what drive this storyline. I hope Marvel collects more arcs like this one.
