The crew of the Effervescent Magnitude, (totally love the ships cool name!), are off on their travels once again and the excitement starts from the very first paragraph. I found myself totally mesmerised as danger, madness and mayhem unfolded on every page of this brilliant episode of the Captain Quasar adventures.
The captain deals with everything the universe can throw at him with much wit, charm, and vigour, added to a touch of 'derring do'. He is a hero of noble and gargantuan proportions, changing the lives of all around him with his masterful and charasmatic personality (this is of course his opinion of himself and should be taken with a heafty pinch of salt) Sadly the universe and many of its inhabitants have scant respect for the captain and his crews skills; and some of the universes oddest creatures have it mind to kick the captains butt! Think huge and angry, acid drooling arachnids; think three eyed humanoids with 'magical' technology; and you can start to see that his enemies are strange and various in their wish to destroy him and his faithful crew. With laser beams flashing, and torpedoes flying, things are getting dire for the crew of the Effervescent Magnitude and all looks lost!
However, with Captain Quasar, you should never count your chickens before they are hatched.
He has some clever ideas to save the day and never ceases to to amaze!
This book combines witty repartee with laugh out loud humour and gripping action. I love the whole space opera genre and as space operas go, this one is the best and funniest I've read!
I love this series, and if you haven't read the first two Captain Quasar stories then my suggestion to you is that you go away and do that now, you truly won't be disappointed!
