I loved the two main characters. Rihann was totally a kick-a$$ kind of girl, but with plenty of smarts to go along with it. Sure, she gets overwhelmed by Arlen at one point, but she's at a serious disadvantage, and there's no way she could have known that he's an undercover law officer with tons of training, instead of being an easy mark. She did her research, she just got surprised - and she STILL almost managed to kick his butt. It was so good to see two worthy adversaries going up against each other, and then (because of the situation) having to learn to lean on each other and trust one another.
I thought the progression of their relationship development was really good. Not too slow, not too fast, and plenty believable. I also really liked the plot, although I thought a little bit more time could have been spent on world-building (hence, only 4 stars), because there were parts that I had a bit of trouble understanding. (Robots, bad guys... still not sure I get how all the technology works).
What stood out to me was the characters and the relationships. Also, the creative little things like a gun that disarms your opponent by overwhelming them with pleasure. NICE. I'm def looking forward to the next one!
This was a great story. I enjoyed how Ms. Ripley created a world of her own. From the evil Zon to the sweet Arlen. Each piece of technology that I read about was new and pulled me further and further in to the story.
I loved the tension Ms. Ripley created between Arlen and Rhihann. Arlen being the sci-fi version of a detective on the verge of solving a huge crime case captures Rhihann, who was attempting to steal his ship. It was cute to see the two end up putting aside their differences and work together to save the galaxy. There were a couple of times that I didn't think the couple would make it, but they always did. The spankings that Arlen administered to Rhihann definitely helped at times.
Additionally, the villains that Ms. Ripley created were so evil. From the very first time that she introduces us to them, I disliked them. I was cheering for Arlen and Rhihann to shut down their cruel operations and bring them to justice!
If you're looking for a sci-fi adventure, with a lot of love, look no further!
