About the Author
Susanne Matthews was born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. She has always been an avid reader of all types of books, but always with a penchant for happily ever after romances. In her imagination, she travelled to foreign lands, past and present, and soared into the future. Today, she gets to spend her time writing, so she can share her adventures with her readers. She loves the ins and outs of romance, and the complex journey it takes to get from the first word to the last period of a novel. As she writes, her characters take on a life of their own, and she shares their fears and agonies on the road to self-discovery and love.

As all S. Matthews’ work, The Captain’s Promise is definitely a page-turner and similar to watching a great historical movie!
But, he did come through and saved her from cruel fate she was about to be handed. Though danger still lurked and they are far from safety. And when her courage almost had her killed, the power of love and care prevails.
The story fast forwards years ahead into Danielle’s turbulent life. Danielle has fallen prey to dastardly betrayals. These disturbing events reach Etienne—now Captain Blouin—who’s become a wealthy trade ship owner. Honor and old heart-longings propels him into fulfilling a long ago promise to the Count de Cherbourg. The resourceful and honorable captain must weave intrigue of his own to save the woman of his dreams. And Danielle must learn to trust him again.
Susanne Matthews has created a plot-twisting, fast-paced story that keeps you on edge wondering when Danielle and Etienne will overcome the obstacles keeping them apart. This story is a skillful interweaving of historical and nautical details, passion, and suspense.
