The romantic interplay between Ranald and Enya was at the worst of times out right hatred and at the best of time a little tenuous and yet they seemed fall into love. I didn't quite buy this. So it left me wondering how the story could produce the ending the author gave us which in itself was not a great one, but it was an ending of sorts. I understand that proximity and lust could fuel a carnal relationship, but to have it be love I think the author needed to offer us a more logical progression. Which this story didn't always seem to do.
I like it overall but is does have some elements of confusion and out right stretches the imagination of the reader. I think my best advise would be if it is not astronomically priced to give this one a shot and see what you think. I personally liked it, and hated it in turns. You might have a completely different read.
I bought this book in 2015 and it was one of my old school romance favorites. I’ve reread this book three times or so and thought that it was time for another reread. Unfortunately, I had the automatic update book option enabled on my kindle and was left with a totally different book. Most everything is different except for the names of the characters. What used to be the tale of two very headstrong people who eventually came to love each other is more like a long drawn out story of Stockholm Syndrome in the Highlands.
I thought the automatic updates were for content errors and am so disappointed. No more rereads for me. This reworked version is a boring hot mess.
