Life in that time was harsh. Slaves were generally treated worse than animals. This is a tough topic, No electricity or running water. People didn’t bathe as often in some cultures. Some just reeked. There was little thought that enslaved persons were human.
Angelique brings these very ancient times to life in her stories. Learning of the hardships people faced makes me amazed that so much was done. Reading, writing, creating the wheel, carts, harness for cows and horses. It’s amazing!
You will enjoy this book. In fact, all of Mrs. Conger’s books .
As an ARC member I receive a prepublication copy gratis. In turn I proofread it, make suggestions if valid, and promise to write an honest review.
I can't wait to start bk 3!!

Both will do anyting for Nat who is trapped into a world of greed and punishment that Nat doesen't deserve, and to help save, Liana the girl who Nat has always loved.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will definitely be reading more from this author.
