I figured it was my fault and went back to sleep. When I inspected the chair in the morning to my surprise both armrest were broken. The armrests are what control the chair from reclining. Each armrest has a lock that should keep the chair in the desired position. They had both slipped allowing the chair to recline further back that it was designed to and break the armrests thus causing the chair to become out of balance. I probably spent a total of only 8 hours in the chair. I am very disappointed. Needless to say this is going back. I cannot in good conscience recommend this chair.
UPDATE: For what it's worth, the company was responsive and refunded me within a day - no hassle.
I bought 2 different anti-gravity chairs. I originally bought the Caravan Canopy for me. I was going to try it out and then buy the oversized one for my husband (he's 6'1 & about 230 pounds. A big guy but not fat. I'm 5'6 & 150 pounds. Not fat. Not thin.)
I didn't like the Caravan Canopy. My husband sat in it and liked it, so I kept it and ordered the Strathwood Basics. I like the Strathwood much better. My husband likes the Canopy better.
Here is the comparison:
The locking mechanism didn't really work. I like to lock my chair halfway so I can be leaning back a bit but still read. So this was the biggest thing for me. I also felt that the material was stretched a bit too tight, and I found it slightly uncomfortable. Not enough give. And finally, I found the arm rests a bit too thin. The seat part was slightly too wide.
My husband liked: The length. It fit him perfectly. He didn't find it uncomfortable. He felt that the Caravan was wider than the Strathwood and fit him better. It also seemed more sturdy and didn't move as much when he shifted around.
I liked that it was more comfortable & seemed to have more "give." I liked the foot rest better, too. It has sort of a flat rubber piece that the Caravan didn't have, that made it more comfortable for foot resting. The arms were wider, and I liked that. The locking mechanism WORKS! It's in a somewhat awkward place, and I'm not wild about that, but not a deal-breaker. I like that you can lock one side OR the other and it locks the chair into place. I liked the width.
My husband liked the length and liked the foot rest-thing better than the Caravan. But he found the width to be a bit too constricting. He felt less secure in the Strathwood... like it might collapse.
A couple of other considerations:
I found the sturdiness to be fine on both. They appear to be about the same length (although I think, according to the specifications, the Caravan is longer). The Caravan is definitely wider. The Strathwood seems to go lean further than the Caravan. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, although I almost felt there's a possibility that I could fall over backwards in the Strathwood. I didn't test it, heh.
Final thoughts: I think the Caravan is better for bigger people than the Strathwood. The Strathwood is slightly more comfortable. If locking the chair into position is important to you, then don't get the Caravan.
UPDATE 9/4/2014: I am now less enamored of the Strathwood. The locking mechanism broke (a long time ago. After my review, but fairly soon after I received the chair), and the bar, in the back, is now sticking in my back. I wouldn't buy it again.

First problem: as others have mentioned it is difficult to lean back, the chair is extremely stiff and jerky when you try to recline. This is due to poor design: too much stress is being placed on one of the chair's joints located near the armrest - you can see it bend and strain under the pressure when you try to lean back. It seems pretty cheap.
Second problem: When I sit on the chair you can see the legs buckle a little bit and stretch out under your weight (I'm under 150 lb). It is very 'bendy' and I would be nervous sitting on this if I was 200 lb+.
Very comfy chair, but a bit difficult to get it to recline, and the levers at the side which lock the chair into place are quite difficult to use. Otherwise, I am happy with this chair and look forward to the summer, when I can spend a lot more time in it!
is dangerous! I was waiting for someone to help me take it to the post office, it is heavy for me ,
