The unit I received appeared just as the older model originals. The engine I was working on (brother's) was a fixed jet with no adjustments and plugged up from years of neglect. The purchased carb IS adjustable just as they used to always be.

Location of the mounting holes for the bolt on shroud bracket and also the choke control lever were located / positioned correctly but be warned that the holes were not tapped. Fortunately I have a complete tap and die set in my shop. I don't know if this is normal or a missed machining step on my particular unit.

Another anomaly is the set up to run. I have always turned the air/fuel on bolt all the way in seated then backed out 1 to 1 1/4 turn (8 horse power blower).
This new replacement carb runs with full power with the screw very nearly all the way in. It will not even run with the screw out 1 1/2 turns.

It might be cracked open an 1/8 turn now. Doesnt' seem normal to me but it runs well and threw heavy wet snow just as it should.
For the money I could not have been more pleased.
It does come with the mounting gasket too by the way.
Not 5 stars because of the missing threads.

Carburetor fit perfectly onto my Tecumseh 8HP Snow King engine. Engine started immediately although a slight adjustment of high speed screw was needed.

Installed on 9hp HMSK engine for snow blower. Having rebuilt Tecumseh carb 3 times over the years in attempt to stop cycling and low rpm stall I have been stunned at how this carb eliminated both problems. Be aware that it might take some find adjustment of the high and low speed needle valves but when fine tuned (with no more then a screw driver) the increase in performance from this carb will impress you. One note on installation, some have commented that two screw holes lack threads. The original screws on my 9hp model used for the unthreaded holes, are self tapping and need only a firm pressure to screw into the aluminum casting. I believe Tecumseh like the automotive company I worked for, used this method to ensure a tight fit to eliminate loosening from engine vibration.

AWESOME!! New England had a record snow fall this year. My Ariens, barely made it through this winter. The snowblower wouldn't start (thank goodness for the electric starter) and wouldn't idle. Had to run the snowblower with full choke. Looking for a carb rebuild kit for my snowblower, I came across these carbs. For the money, it was cheaper to buy this than a carb gasket kit. It took about 30 minutes to replace and fiddle with the adjustment screws. I watched YOUTUBE videos on how to adjust the air/idle screws. Very easy. Now the snowblower starts on one pull.

With only one small exception, bolted right onto my Tecumseh HMSK80. The exception was that the holes for the heater-box bracket were too small, so I had to drill and tap them, which took 5 minutes with the soft aluminum.

Once installed, I had to fiddle about with the adjustments (idle mix, idle speed, main mix), as well as the max operating speed and governor for about 20 minutes before all was good, but this is to be expected and welcome, since the stock carb didn't have mixture adjustments.

This is on a snowblower and I installed it after the end of the season, so further tweaking may be required for colder temperatures/constant load/winter-blend gasoline, but I'm sure it will work fine.

Good quality and totally as-advertised. Can't beat the price. Great deal!

Was skeptical about a $13 Chinese carb but worked great on my old 1980s 8hp Ariens snowblower with Tecumseh motor. Wish I would have known these carbs were available for this cheap last year. Spent the better part of a day last winter rebuilding the original carb and clearing the jets but still struggled with float issues and motor surging while running. This carb shipped fast, bolted right up, no threading issues. Fired up on first pull and just had to adjust the mixture screw on bottom of bowl to get it to run just right. This mixture screw is not on the original carb so this was a very nice added feature.

Just used snowblower the other day and cleared about 6 driveways no problem. Threw the snow further than it ever did before :). Very happy.

I would also recommend running ethanol free fuel as the ethanol quickly gums up the carb even if it is drained for storage. Also a good idea to install an inline fuel filter to prevent any debris from plugging the jets. The jets in these carbs are extremely small and it doesn't take more than a grain of sand or dirt to plug it.

worked great on my 8 horse Tecumseh BLOW SNOWER. OK seriously it was direct fit replacement on my 10+ year old husky ( tractor supply). A couple of years ago I poured some gas from a rusty can into it,, problems ensued. I'm good with small engines and can tune them to run well, but try as i might I could not get passageways all clean in these, (no come apart carbs used now days,,, think California) . But I tried. I disassembled cleaned and cleared this thing as much as possible. Alas It ran but but did not idle correctly, didn't run that great either, but it would get the job done here in the Dakotas at -20 -25 or -30.. probably had 3 or 4 hours work trying to clean this old carb. Getting ready this fall I decided to just get a new one,,, $14 bucks and 20 minutes later this thing runs great.
OK now for the important points.. I also added two things. First and most important, an inline fuel filter, the little kind, that should have been there in the first place. Cost me a couple of bucks here on amazon, probably would have cost the manufacture about 0.08c. That would have prevented the problem in the first place.. Next I add an inline fuel shutoff again a $ or two. Now I can shut off the gas and run the engine until it dies then push the drain button on the bottom of the carb to get the last drop drained from the carb. Now no gas in the carb to go foul.
To start turn on gas wait a few moments, prime two shots and start.
