I bought these to add some tie-down points to a 10 mil tarp. Even with the tarp folded so that the grommet passed through 3 layers of the tarp, the grommets worked perfectly. I could even snap them together with my hands, no tools required. I also purchased some of the Coghlan's grommets for this project and these CargoLoc grommets are far superior. Not only do you get more grommets per package for about the same price but I had lots of trouble with the Coghlan's grommets because they couldn't handle multiple layers of tarp. (I cut a large tarp in half and was creating a hem on the cut side while I added grommets.) The CargoLoc grommets worked flawlessly, were easy to install and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?!

I ordered three different brand clips from Amazon for my boat cover. Teckton, Cargoloc and Scotty. The first two brands are identical and Scotty uses a sliding lock rather than the screw down. All three clips on the tarp that covers my boat with stood high winds last week with no problem. They have been installed all winter. You cant go wrong with any of the three IMO.

I have used three different tarp clips with a heavy-duty (12.5 oz) fabric from Tek Supply, and this clip is the only one I would use again. Key for me is the screw-type fastener, which allows me to securely clamp to the fabric and to release the clip conveniently.
The alternatives are the Tek Supply 109921 and the 'Scotty' (http://www.amazon.com/Scotty-Tarp-Clip-Black-pack). Neither grips the fabric tightly enough to withstand wind, and both require the use of a tool to release.
A tip: there is a groove in the CargoLoc clip just behind the serrated jaws. You can use this groove in conjunction with a bolt rope to hold the fabric even more securely.

We went to these clips after the "24pcs Awning Clips" also sold an Amazon failed to hold thin projection screen material under a slight wind. With these clips I would say that the material will rip before the clip lets go! Screw closure also works better than the slide arrangement of the previously mention clips. I would definitely buy these again!

Grommets with sharp, pointy places on the outer and inner edges are the opposite of what consumers want. We don't want ripped tarps and fraying lines. We don't want folded tarps being scraped, punctured, and damaged by grommet edges. We don't want tarp systems under wind stress to fail at random times due to cost cutting manufacturing shortcuts.

The people at the factory failed to smooth down the washers' injection mold feeder lines. Some extended more than a millimeter away from the outer edge, indicating careless cutting and nonexistent inspection and quality control. It is hard to have confidence in the product in service as a grommet when it takes 20 minutes of customer effort to get the parts in reasonable shape for use.

The inner and top edges of the grommets had multiple whiskers of hard, pointy plastic. It took a great deal of filing to smooth them down, but there were still rough areas sure to stress and age lines unable to slide smoothly inside them. I will have to use bungee cord hooks or carabiners instead of less expensive loops of line like I desired.

While doing all this new product repair, sadly a requirement in modern times with trading partners like China, I noticed the upper sections of the grommet centers looked and felt thin. They will be installed in thick washers, so I doubt there will be a problem. The thinness gave the impression, however, of being cheap and weak.

The grommets are poorly finished by the manufacturer, and should have been rejected and melted down, not sold to customers. The company ought to be ashamed to have its name on such a low quality product.

Four X shaped incisions on two folded surfaces created weak points that made a hung up tarp tear away from doubled grommets in two minutes.

These fulfill their purpose for applying grommets to things however snapping them together was to easy and they
come apart easily also.
I used a hot glue gun while applying them to make them stronger.
Still looking for some high quality ones.
would recommend for light applications.

I got this kit to built a plastic tent footprint using a tarp and some webbing straps. This kit was very easy to use (following the instructions that came at the back of the box)and place every grommet. For 7.48 bucks you get a nice product with good quality in spite it is made in China. Just one more thing, at the front of the package is stated that the Kit is "28 Package", this means 24 grommets and 4 tools to install them.

USES
Most uses are to add rope points to sheet-like materials which do not already have eyelets, for attaching ropes, bungy cords, etc
> Use on any tarp or sheeting which does not have eyelets
> Use on a tarp when the eyelets are spaced too far apart, or at inconvenient locations
> Use plastic sheeting like a tarp to protect patio furniture, cars, etc.
> Hang a wet rug or blanket to dry (but use lots of clips, or just use the clips to secure the rug, etc. to a drying frame)
> Hang greenhouse sun screening to protect plants from direct sunlight or wind
> Hang temporary signs printed on plastic sheeting or painted on fabric
> Hang fabrics to make temporary or "arty" curtains, screens, and/or room dividers
> Hang a quilt, Navaho rug, antique Persian carpet, etc. on a wall as an art object
> Hang painter's canvas drop cloths to protect furniture
> Hang plastic sheeting to stop drafts
> Secure non-fitted sheets to a mattress (including decorative sheets to futon mattresses as sofa covers)
> Secure a table cloth to a picnic table
> Secure a comforter to a hammock
> Secure beach towels or picnic blankets from blowing away (using weights or tent stakes)

OTHER USES
> Sometimes CargoLoc clips are handy for simply clipping two pieces of fabric or fabric-like material together, even when you do not use the eyelet part (don't attach a rope or cord).
> Anchors or tie-down points for party balloons, etc.
> Hanging points (e.g., for a lamp, etc) from a tent roof, etc.
