I'm an urban farmer and certainly walk a lot, which is why I wanted a hiker-type shoe. I also kneel, crouch, stand, shuffle, etc daily. I would not say I am particularly hard on shoes.
The outside of the shoe shows wear like I would expect. At this point in a shoes life (9 months with 5 days a week of wear) I would expect it to be well broken in: Somewhat form fitting to my feet and comfortable. However the interior at this point is unsupportive, parts of it feels like it has caved in or the footbed has deteriorated. The removable insert is still intact, but has lost its cushion. At the end of the day my feet ache and all I want to do is get these things off. Very unhappy with the comfort. If only the inside held up as well as the outside.
I think $115 shoes should last longer than this. If I got 12 months of relative comfort I might have been ok with these.
Like I said, I wanted to love them, but in the end I didn't want to sacrifice my foot comfort for them. Nicely built, very durable looking, nice grippy sole. Carhartt's version of wider just isn't wide enough for somebody that wears a EE shoe normally. So if you have "flipper feet", this is a heads up for you.
Amazon said the return window is closed on these, so I can't return. Carhartt and Zappos said they won't warranty them since they're purchased through Amazon.
What a shame!
