This jacket is warm as long as there is no wind. Any jacket without a good wind flap (or two) on the openning lets cold air onto your chest and stomach (your core) when it's windy. Therefore, no deductions since I was expecting that from the pictures. I didn't get this jacket for working out in the cold (I have other jackets for that), more for tooling around in the winter... and it's machine washable!
I am 6' tall, 180 lbs, wear a 43R suit and 33" waisted jeans (try to find those odd sizes in a store). The large size allowed me to fit a medium weight fleece underneath. However, it was a little big in the waist for me so some tailoring will be required (not unusual with my goofy body shape for any jacket so no deductions). Sleeve length was similar to a 43R suit.
I will update the review if there is significant shrinkage after machine washing.
Side note: I don't know if its Amazon or Carhartt themselves, but this "black" jacket is a "close out" item, Amazon no long going to carry it?? or Carhartt no long producing the "black" style?? If so Carhartt, bad Idea. Lookout for other Carhartt "close out" notifications on their items to be safe. ~Eric
-a little puffy due to thickness, but that could just be me
- Buttons slits are a bit small so buttons are a bit of a hassle to close
-does not absorb water from rain, snow, etc
I’m kind of a small guy standing at 5’8 and weighing about 170lbs with smaller shoulders. So on me the jacket was not as form fitting as the picture suggests but I was kind of ok with this. The jacket was a little bit on the larger side which works for me since I live in a cold climate I usually layer clothing underneath it. It is made of very sturdy material, ships relatively quickly, it holds well against rain and snow, and for the quality was a great buy. However please note this jacket is super warm! Unless you’re one of those people that like to feel like a volcano all year around this is probably not an autumn or spring time jacket, it is a very heavy thick jacket. Also if you’re anything like me and like sewing patches onto your clothing please be aware you will need a very thick needle, probably one made for denim, to sew anything onto this. My only negatives I have to say about this jacket is it is a little more on the thicker side than the picture would suggest and the button slits are a bit small for the buttons so closing the jacket without loosening up the slits can be a bit of a pain, especially in the fingers. Overall excellent jacket!
I like the inner pocket on the left side of chest. Has a zipper so you can put a flask, wallet or "other" item in there with room to spare.
I'll update after I get some wear on it but I think I will wear out before this jacket
Oh yeah Mine is black not sandstone.
