Carhartt, what more is there to say?
on December 1, 2011
I have grown up around Carhartts all my life as I live in Ohio and my family farms so my dad has always used Carhartts for his overalls and work coats. I am currently going to school and would be walking in the winter so I knew I needed a warm coat. For the price, this coat is great. I haven't worn it in below 32 degree weather yet (thankfully) but so far the coat is great. The fabric is one of the rougher fabrics but it also makes it water resistant which is great because it has rained a lot here lately and I have luckily been able to stay dry. The coat is generally lightweight for the warmth it provides. It is not burdensome and cumbersome like many winter coats but it seems to provide the same warmth as most winter coats. While I haven't done much besides walking in it, it seems to give great mobility.
The only issue I have is that like most Carhartts and the style it leaves your neck exposed so if you are in very cold temperatures you may want to cover your neck with something. So if you are looking for a coat that covers your neck, this won't.
So far I have had this coat for a month now and it seems to be holding up greatly, which I expect it will given my past experiences with Carhartt.
Of course, this coat isn't the most "fashionable" thing in the world, but that's not its point. If you want fashion look for a peacoat or something else. This coat will instead provide you warmth, mobility, and dryness (much more valuable in my eyes).
