Disneyland Records catalog number ST 3987, is the Pirates of the Caribbean show. Side A of this long playing vinyl record is a studio dramitazation of the complete ride through of the attraction as narrated by Thurl Ravenscroft, and a separate track of the YO HO (A Pirates Life for Me) song. Thurl is a familiar voice, even if think you have never heard of him (he voiced the Grinch, Tony the Tiger, a singing bust in the Haunted Mansion, other Disney attractions, and more). Voice actor Paul Frees also performed some pirate dialogue on the attraction, but is not on the album.
Side B needed some filler on the LP, so they convinced Thurl to sing five old sea shanty songs. This is a great LP, with sounds from the attraction. I have the limited edition CD from the attractions anniversary and while it is very complete, I wish they would have included the material from this old record on there. I actually have mine in a frame right now for wall art.
There is a full size booklet inside the album cover, with great full color photos from inside the attraction. This is really nice for any Disneyland fan, a great collectible if you can find one. If you are going to invest in one of these, make sure you get the 1968 release from the year the ride opened.

This one, along with Disney's Chilling Thrilling Sounds Of The Haunted House and Mary Poppins original vinyl soundtrack were at the top of my list for Disney albums ever made for vinyl 331/3.
There is no amatuer feel to the sound of this album which was intended to promote the grand opening of the famous ride. The narrator deep voiced friendly pirate is one of the main factors of this edition. It utilizes the sound effects in the backgrounds and main featured sequences, along with some additional effects. The first side is entirely the ride experiance, with the flipside being a collection of seaworthy songs.
Although it is a vintage product currently out of print, it can be found within sites that sell vintage disney vinyl. Be sure to inquire about interior condition, as well as the record, because it originally contained a colorful attraction read along picture booklet.

This album came out a while ago and has been out of print for sometime. But thanks to the wonders of the internet,I've aquired this rare gem. This album pretty much walks you thru the classic Disney ride and then some. The 3rd track is the entire float through of the ride and the other tracks contain voice overs, little song sections and such. Classic Disney! Classic Ride! If you can find this album, get it!

The thing that really puts this recording over the top is Thurl's beautiful renditions of the sea shanties on side two. Wonderful basso singing. Will anyone like him ever come again?
