What you should know:
LOTS OF UP-KEEP
They are far from permanent. -- the original tape strip lasts a few months, I think 6 months was the longest for us. Then you begin a cycle of constant replacement of the tape strip. Expect to re-adhere every two months or so.
Glue to the tape strip works a bit -- the tape strip often stayed on the car and not the lash, so we had success gluing it back to the lash.
It's not easy -- the process of cleaning off the baked on old tape is not super easy or quick.
The lashes-- the lashes last a long time. I am buying this second set and the original lashes were purchased about 3 years ago. Finally one of them dry-rotted.
Extra strips-- order extra strips so you don't get mad when it starts to come off
But LOTS OF FUN:
Honest to goodness people love these. They are still so rare that we get constant compliments and smiles and waves. Kids love them, old people love, big scary people love them. They are wonderful.
These are not a one-time purchase. I have been trying to think about them like a trip to the movies. I have to pay some money on occassion but from that the family gets something it enjoys. I frankly can not imagine the car without them. So BUY but do so knowing that you'll need to give them some love and upkeep.
I used industrial strength velcro to install them so I could take them off if I go to an area they may get stolen (downtown parking garages) or when going through the car wash. They hold on well & easy to install (velcro helped that too).
With that said, I was very skeptical whether to order a new set of carlashes, thinking I would be wasting money on something that will only last a week or so; however, they have not fallen off or tear apart from high speeds or car washes. And most importantly, they are still in the same curled position as the day I put them on.
The only thing I wished differently is the thickness of the adhesive. I had to cut the lashes short, because the adhesive was too thick for me to stick them any farther from where the side of my hood ended. The old set I had a few years ago had a slimmer adhesive, so I was able to use the entire thing without any problems (adhesive wise, :)).
Overall, I would definitely recommend this for anyone. Personally, I think they look best on vehicles with circular headlights, but it will bring a smile to anyone's face. :)
