Firstly there is Zero to put together, gate comes 100% put together.
Secondly, you need to carefully stretch the gate out where you want it. As tight as you can here.
Then you make sure the threaded wheel is fully wound up so no threads are showing.
Lift the pin and slide the locking assembly as close as it will go toward where the gates come together in the middle.
Then push the pin in to the closest pin, toward the middle, as you can.
Start to wind the threaded wheel. making sure as you tighten it you push down the pin several times because it rises and the gate WILL slip if you don't. And once you've tightened the wheel all that you can, do it another 1/2 a turn and the gate won't go anywhere unless you want it to.
This gate works perfectly, if it doesn't for you, it's either broken or you're doing it wrong - don't give up too quickly it was a godsend for us with our puppies. Too bad my puppies are growing too quickly, lol.
