About Iodine:
Iodine is an important trace element that is essential to the human body. It is supplied to us by the foods we eat on a daily basis. It can be found in certain vegetables, yogurt, cranberries, salt, and cheese. The organ that uses Iodine the most is the thyroid gland. Iodine is atomic number 53 on the periodic table of elements and has a molecular makeup.
Common Uses of Iodine:
Iodine has many common uses. In emergency first-aid and medical circumstances, it has been used as an antiseptic swab for wounds. Iodine can come in different forms like tincture, tablets, pills, ointments, creams and capsules. Carlyle Lugol's Iodine 2% Solution comes as a liquid solution in a dropper bottle.
Different from Nascent Iodine, Lugol's 2% Solution is made up of 94% distilled water, 4% potassium iodide, and 2% pure iodine.

Add to the fact that I live where the sun is a rarity.
And I was a White Rat for a certain very caustic acne drug as a youth.
And it's the perfect storm for thyroid issues and immune system problems.
A few drops a week in filtered or distilled water are great for reviving a sluggish thyroid.
If you're a fitness enthusiast, I highly recommend you add Lugol's Solution to your sports hydration and pre-workout drink . It doesn't effect the taste in a negative way. And you may find a gentle energy increase as well.
A few drops in a Neti-Pot or Sinus Rinse Bottle and many of the rhinovirus and bacterium strains are wiped clean. No more colds!
It's definitely worth a regular sinus rinse to keep those channels healthy.
You'll also find that the nasal membranes are a great channel for the potassium iodide and Iodine in Lugol's Solution to increase thyroid performance. An alternative to oral ingestion.
A great way to get your life back, if hypothyroidism (or colds) set you back.

Everything considered, I decided that taking a Lugol's iodine solution is a good, safe bet for me. I decided to try this Carlyle's offering based on potency (2%, as I wanted to start off slowly and have greater flexibility in dosage), availability (same/next day), and price (cheap). The day I got it, I put two (2) drops in about eight (8) ounces of water and drank it. Within hours, I noticed a slight but certain increase in energy to a level that I hadn't felt in years. It felt natural and sustained -- not the short-lived, jittery feeling one gets from a large cup of coffee or some "instant energy" drink that you just *know* will have negative long term effects on your body from having placed your systems in overdrive. That first night, it did take me a couple more hours to get tired enough to sleep, but in the ensuing days I have been able to resume my normal sleep schedule despite taking 2 drops of Lugol's twice or thrice daily and enjoying sustained, natural-feeling energy levels every day. (Note: I am over 60 years old and work on my feet ten (10) hours per day. The difference is real -- and welcome. Noticeable results in you may differ.) Besides using water as a medium, I have put my 2 drops of Lugol's in anywhere from 4 to 12 ounces of apple juice, milk, coffee, and root beer. I have found it unobjectionable in all of the above. When bringing drink to face, I notice the aroma of the iodine before drinking it; frankly it seems unnatural. After all, this is the smell of tincture of iodine (which is alcohol-based, unlike Lugol's) -- the stuff used to disinfect woulds and make them sting. (Who likes the stinging part? I still use it, though, because it WORKS.) The taste is very mild -- and might be unnoticeable if I exhaled at the start. I'll have to try it... but it doesn't bother me in drinking it normally, so it's no big deal if breathing helps or not. Sorry for the meandering review, but though I'm anxious to get back to something pressing, I wanted to share my experience with others in the hope that it will provide them with useful information in providing themselves with better health; I just had to get this out there.
I did two drops on my arm a couple days in a row, then woke up one night realizing my heart beat was abnormally high. Don't over do it. Maybe talk to a doctor if you have concerns before trying to be your own doctor.
I've been suffering from hypothyroidism for much of my life and I was never told that I need to supplement iodine.
I don't eat fish and cannot stand the smell of seafood, so I don't get exposed to iodine because of that.
I received the iodine yesterday, did 3 drops on my arms and feel 100% better.
Prior to that I was waking up feeling like I was run over by a train, just extremely fatigued.
Also I could feel my thyroid becoming enlarged, as it caused my throat to feel like a sore throat.
Well, after just one treatment my throat does not feel swelled anymore and I have alot more energy.
I don't know if I need to supplement everyday, probably not.
However, the fact is we need iodine.
Call it a conspiracy, but there has to be a reason why companies removed iodine from their foods.
Almost no multi-vitamins have iodine or enough of it to give you what you need.
Researching gummy vitamins, only the pre-natal vitamins carried a decent amount of iodine, around 250 mcg, still not enough, but the point is that was the one I found with the most.
Mens and Womens multi-vitamins are totally lacking.
It seems someone is trying to cause people to get sick by depriving them of essential nutrients.
