The reviews for this DVD are quite mixed. Thus my 3-star middle-of-the-road rating.

This DVD is worth having if:

You have the other Carmen DVDs, like them, and want to learn more routines;

You are not in great physical shape and want to start with something a little easier and fun;

You think CE is hot and want to drool as she dances.

DON'T buy this DVD if:

You have the other ones, and don't feel the extra $ is worth it for a couple extra routines;

You are in very good physical condition and want a challenging workout.

You are a seasoned stripper looking for new moves. You won't find 'em here.

OK? Ok.

I have done aerobics my whole life and been dancing for some time as well. I'm not really a hip-hop dancer although I've wanted to get into it for some time. Whenever you buy an aerobic dance video you want to get a work-out and learn some cool new moves to try out on the dance floor. This video will do neither. I bought at the behest of my boyfriend who assured me that she is a great dancer. While that might be true, she should completely stay away from instruction.

Good instructional videos must have steady camera angles where you can see the whole moves consistently. They can not bounce around b/c it confuses the viewer and limits the viewing of the moves. This video mostly shows her from the waist up which is awful since you are supposed to be looking at her feet. Mostly this is to show off how sexy and cool she looks rather than actually try to show you anything at all.

Of course it is mandatory to have clear, concise instructions on all facets of new moves. This includes feet placement, how to step, where your toes should point, hip placement and counting correctly to the rhythm. She does NONE of this well. Her counting is off big time and doesn't match her steps. There are times when all she does is count and not instruct at all. .

Also her instructions don't match her movements. A good instructor will tell you to step with your right while she steps with her left. Why? Because she is in front of you and her actions need to mirror yours. So when she tells you to step with your right it should look like it's on the right side to you. She doesn't do this at all and actually forgets to mention the left or right altogether after a while.

If you are feeling like working out, but aren't in the mood to throw punches, kicks, or hit the pavement than I suggest her hip hop workout. To get a good cardio burn, you will have to replay the dance section several times, though. I have a lot of fun with it and I am a hip hop teacher. It's very basic movements set to two different types of music. It's like dancin in your bedroom with your bestfriend. After a couple run throughs of the dance, you'll be sweatin and breathin hard.

I just received my DVD yesterday and I'm about to buy discs 1 & 2 today! The lap dance was a little strange (I wasn't prepared with the right chair!) but it is a good warm up for the next disc. The Hip-Hop workout was awesome! I definitely worked up a sweat and I am pretty sore today. Carmen makes it look so easy to be sexy while doing this, but I did not exude the same confidence and found myself laughing at my own attempts to look sexy! It was really fun, though, and she takes the time to carefully explain each step. This makes it easy for the non-dancer types such as myself! After I got the steps down (I had to replay the disc several times!), I would rewind just until the last part which is when you go through the whole routine with the music. This is when I really started to get pumped up! I think this is a great workout program, and once I get the steps down well-enough, I think I may be able to feel more sexy while doing them!

I originally got this DVD from the library and lost it so I realized it was cheaper for me to buy a new one and return it then to pay the library to buy a new one. Of course after I returned it I found the original DVD. Not that great.

I ordered this dvd because back in 2008 i use to work out to it over and over when it was on Comcast on Demand.
The only thing i was really disappointed in was the background music, when I first started working out to it, it had a J.Lo upbeat background song that was fun to workout and listen to. I thought it still had that but when i put the dvd in i noticed the music had changed, it really didnt go with the work out at all. All and all id give this dvd 4 stars.

I just bought this today and was really excited to used it. I work out daily on the treadmill, stationary bike or use my pilates dvd...that was getting pretty boring. I'm an experienced dancer so I skipped the first 3 dvds and went straight to this one. The lap dance dvd was VERY short and the moves were just repeated twice. Not too much to it! Now the hip hop one wasn't bad. I've used some of the moves before in dance team routines and such, but running in place? Sorry, I've never seen that done and it made Carmen Electra look like she was lost and running in circles. I don't think it was worth what I paid for it and I now regret *not* reading the reviews before I purchased this dvd. I'm hoping the 2nd one might be a little more of a cardio workout for me! By the way, does anyone know how to change the music on the dvd?? it says you can change the music for the workout but everytime I tried it went right back to the music it was playing the first time!
