This is powerfully written and beautiful. I couldn't put it down and was anxious to start a new chapter. Love Love Love.
Of the 3 books in this series.... I have to say I felt this one was the best by far.
We had met Gia in the previous 2 books as Ariannas best friend...She helped Arianna jump a few hurdles and win the man of her dreams... In this 3rd book Gia has hurdles to jump as well... Even though it looks like Gia has it together...smart...sexy...independent....she is still overcome by childhood memories that invade her dreams and flow into her personal life. With the help of Xavier and court ordered therapy, she tries to work through them...
It has been a while since a book had me so emotional. I HIGHLY recommend this book. You couldread this as a stand alone....but to be honest...I say read them all...they are worth it!
Yes, there is a slave/Master dynamic in the book...nicely done. Now I "get" the slave/Master dynamic, too. Makes sense to me now. I'm slow, sue me. Other than that aspect, the sex is hot but highly emotional for both the reader and Gia.
Gia is dealing with a hot mess and abusive childhood. If rape, abuse, and parental involvement are a trigger...not read it. Ms. Bright handles it emotional and factually, too. While she doesn't sugarcoat the issue but it is not graphic. We learn about it through Gia's sessions with Xavier. I'm amazed at Gia's growth throughout the book. From the issues with forgiveness, sexual growth, learning to love someone and finally seeing herself through someone else's eyes. Truly remarkable.
I would be remiss to not mention her bestie Arianna. God, I loved that woman. She never backed down with Gia. The wedding planning scenes were funny but Gia was also a great friend to Gia when it counted. BTW, she is the focal point of the first two books and yes, I need to read them.
Xavier is the most patient book boyfriend that I've read in a while. He needed to be for Gia. This is Gia's journey, not anyone else's and it shows. He was never pushy and his scenes with Jenna were wonderful; especially in his office.
I could go on and on about this book because it is creeping into my #1 book of the year so far. Yes, it is THAT good. Ms. Bright nails it on so many levels that it is mind-blowing. There is sex in the book. Lots of it but trust me, that's the "point" of the book. It's emotional, hot and at times, panty melting. Gia needs it for her growth and we are just the voyeur.
*I received this book for my honest opinion. I was not paid for my opinion. It is my own.*
