Anyway, the machine itself is fantastic, very well made, it doesn't feel like it will come apart/bend/break anytime soon. And i was fairly rough with it a few times (out of frustration). Very neat little gadget to have in your craft supply.
First, you have to use the right yarn. Sports or baby weight. I hear you can use up to size 4 but 4 does not work for me.
Second, you need to attach the weight right away. It is a bit of a pain because until you cast on you have to hold it.
Third. Once you have cased on the first two needles (one opposing the other) let go of the weight
Fourth. Watch it and tug on the lower string frequently. It should look like a concave "X" If it comes up even on the tube, pull down on the lower string.
Fifth. Keep a close eye on it.
Sixth Keep adjusting the weight. Don't let it hit the floor.
I use it with cotton crochet thread to make Icords for my knitted string bags. Makes 60 in of Icord in a couple of minutes. Used to take me well over an hour with a spool loom or dp knitting needles.
