The premise is good, and I see the potential, which is why I’m not scoring it lower. This book also does not have a denouement. So if that’s something you need, I suppose you have to buy the other two books in the series.
I was pretty disappointed that I spent my time reading this, expecting an actual ending, whether happy or not. I would not recommend this book to anyone I know.
L T Marshall did a wonderful job on developing the characters as you read this book. I would recommend this book to everyone who love a great romance.
I disliked Emma intently when I first met her. Scatty, nervous, straight as a die, I wondered if she would bend at all. Then I met Jake. Sorry, he is not my idea of hot. But then again, I don't go in for raging heat from looks alone. If I were to like him through Emma's eyes, it would not happen.
The book is poorly edited which mars the reading of a potentially good novel. I have to stop and re-read to see if I got it wrong. I will continue to read it however, as I'm getting enthused by the reviews of the ensuing books in the series and find it hard to believe it is already up to book 8. I like to read a whole series of books once I begin, as it is a following of a life after all.
I'll be back to edit my review once I have completed reading it, perhaps even to increase the stars. There are a few "f*ck" scattered throughout, so if you don't like this kind of language, perhaps you may want to think again. While I realise it is a common word, there are some of us who enjoy a good read without that one in particular insulting out mind.
Reading on to see if Jake and Emma do get together for a lifetime of real romance...
I stopped reading romance novels a long time ago because I tend plunge myself into the characters. I feel what they feel but this book goes further than that. I actually cried a couple times while reading. After finishing last night, I woke up feeling depressed because the book was over and the ending was unexpected. Thankfully, there are two more. (Again, I can’t wait to see what is next.)
Excellent character development- If you sympathize with characters in the books you read, you are in for a treat. Both characters felt like they could be friends that you want to hug and smack at the same time.
I finished this book in less than 8 hours. To say it is a page-turner would not be a lie.
Emma is a deeply flawed protagonist. She is closed-off and skeptical of others, yet the author does a great job of making you root for her to overcome her fears from her traumatic childhood. Jake is the perfect compliment to Emma: super playful, strong-willed and fiercely protective. You will fall in love with him quickly, but also hate him a little bit because he’s not perfect either.
So please, GO READ THIS BOOK. You won’t regret it.
P.S. After learning Marshall wasn’t American, her writing style made a lot more sense to me.

Underwear model and all round Mr Perfect playboy millionaire, Jake Carrero, isn't my usual type of hero either. I tend to like my objects of desire a bit rougher round the edges, and I was praying he'd have a few scars somewhere - just so he seemed, well, less of a fantasy figure and more approachable in my imagination - if that makes sense. However, as I read on, L.T. Marshall won me over with this story of the frosty Emma with a troubled past, that only Jake can uncover - which she unravelled with depth, warmth and empathy.
And I honestly think Ms Marshall could be the hot new name in romance - perhaps even the new Jackie Collins!
This amazing sexy funny tense romance is everything.
It made me laugh cry swoon giggle and break my heart.
Cold, in control Emma is about to start a new job as PA to the sexy smooth easy happy go lucky Jake Carrero
But when his easy charm affects her can she keep the cool mask In place ....does she even want to
I think I relate a little to hard to Emma and I feel her pain and know I’ve been told similar things as her but o still want to throttle her and bang their heads together and cry and be held
I need to next book but I’m scared lol
