Defective goal slot

Defective goal slot
This board is useless as it is defective. The first picture shows that the goal opening is not aligned properly or not filed as there is a lip preventing the puck from ever sliding in whereas the second picture the goal opening is flush with the board that allows a smooth slide and goal.Sending it back is not an option as the cardboard and packaging it came in was tossed out before we noticed the defect.Highly disappointed as its just trash at this point.

I remember back in the late 70's and early 80's growing up in South Florida, on rainy days during summer camp we would run to the Nok Hockey games sitting in the wreck room. Along with ping pong, bumper pool and foozball, Nok Hockey was my go to game. We purchased the large Carrom 20.01 Nok Hockey game for a holiday gift for our 10 (almost 11 year old) son. Needless to say he has been playing it with us as well as his friends non stop. We have set up tournaments, brackets etc. We are having a blast. The game is made with high quality construction and will provide countless hours of fun for the entire family. It is an easy game to pick up and learn. Some basic house rules we employ (most are traditional Nok Hockey rules that I still to this day remember).

1. Face off in the center is as easy as 1,2,3 - tap your stick on the board at the same time as your opponents, and then tap your opponents stick. Do this three times then you both can have at it in getting to the puck with your stick.

2. Pucks in the defensive zone can only be played by that player.

3. If the puck stops in the goal zone (solid red area on your board) but is not a goal, the defending player has the option to shoot from that spot or take the puck and shoot a "thumb flick shot" off his wooden bumper. It takes a little practice, but you will get the hang of the thumb flick shot and it is a deadly goal shot once you learn it!! Go to You Tube and check out some videos of people playing Nok Hockey and you will see what a Thumb Flick Shot looks like!

4. A puck in the neutral (middle of the board) zone is there for the taking. Both players should be trying to get to it. That can cause some fun moments, and be careful!! The puck can go flying sometimes off the board!

5. If a player shoots the puck off the board then the defending player gets a free shot from either circle (on your board you will see them) in his defensive zone.

6. If the puck is halfway in the net it is not considered a goal! The puck must be more than halfway in the net (tilted downward off the board). If a puck goes into the net but pops out we do not count it as a goal (sort of like hitting the pipes). You can make your own goal rules, but we like this rule.

7. No blocking shots with your stick is allowed. Otherwise you will never score. When a player is shooting the puck your stick should be completely off the playing board. The only time your fighting for the puck is when it is not in the respective players defensive zones.

8. You can't intentionally push the puck to set up shots. Make a concerted effort to shoot it every time. No "self passing" of the puck. This is not how Nok Hockey is meant to be played.

9. Regular games are played to 7 points. You must win by 2 points. For example a game tied at 6 would play to 8. If it is tied at 7 you play to 9 etc etc. Cahmpionship games we play to 11. You can set whatever score wins. or you can play a timed game. Whatever you want.

That's pretty much it. The game is simple, fast and fun.

Enjoy a classic non electronic game with your kids!!!!!

Not the heavy duty, rugged model I remember in game rooms of the past but well made and sturdily constructed with strong enough wood parts. The finish on the playing field is scuffing some already but I believe it will last a while. Getting it on sale made it an especially good buy. This one is their largest table I think but being not very thick it's easy to store in back of the closet or behind a door standing on edge. It's been a lot of fun for the money and doesn't cost anything to play.

I used to buy 6-8 new Noc Hockey tables every summer for the playground program. I know the product very well. The game is still one of the very best on the market, but the change to plastic sticks and cutting down the material thickness created a less sturdy product. Sometimes you just used quality materials to get a superior product. Shame to see the cutbacks, but still a great family game. Our church has two boards that are used endlessly by the kids. Kids love beating their parents. I just don’t know if the current version would hold up to the stresses of daily play at a Boys &Girls Club.

We bought this set for my son, who received it as a gift for his fourth birthday. It has quickly become one of his favorite toys and he loves playing with mom and dad (and anyone else who will join him). He's not great on the rules yet, but who doesn't love to bang a stick on a board? The first set we got had a rip in the board and also did not come with the sticks or a puck, so when we ordered the replacement, we ordered additional sticks and pucks just in case. The replacement did come with sticks and pucks, so we now have extra, which is not a bad thing. This has given us endless hours of enjoyment.

It is the same 'Nok-Hockey' game I remember as a kid. I enjoyed it immensely then and my grandkids are enjoying playing it now. When I had summer camps for children we used the smaller size board but this large size is so much better. Surprisingly, my kids are having fun with it also. This large size is put together well and is much sturdier than the other size. This is the largest size available. However, I seem to recall it having been much more substantial, in the past. Could it be because I was somewhat smaller then?

I ordered this Nok Hockey-game because when I was a kid in the 50's we played it almost every day in the parks dept. playground.
We occasionally broke the sticks but never the board it lasted for years. This board didn't even survive the UPS delivery even though it had fragile posted all over the box.
The way it was packaged was a disgrace, My 7 year old grand son could have done it better.
Even so the construction is CHEAP- CHEAP- CHEAP the side boards were split the corners split and pulled apart and the angle pieces were stapled in hap- hazardly. Do your self a favor and AVOID this Nok Hockey Game like the Plague I wound up repairing the board with screws rather then sending it back because I didn't want to pay the postage nor did I have the box it came in.
Amazon ought to check these products out before selling them to the unsuspecting public

Hi this game brings me back years and now my child can enjoy with his friends. It is larger than I thought and peopel complained about the hockey sticks BUT they must have improved it since it is NOT flimsy at all-very sturdy. The wood on sides is naked wood so I put a protective stain to prevent splintering. I would recommend it highly and it was a gift from overseas and came in one piece.
