In 2002 Anchor Bay released a box set of some of the CO films and last year VCI began filling in the gaps with double features, with two films on one DVD. The prints were sharp (these were released in standard aspect. But no special features.
This DVD is different and VCI has really gone the extra step. One might even call this a "deluxe edition". Why? Because in addition to nice clean prints (reviews of the previous MGM release of ".. at your convenience" say the print was poor but what I saw here certainly wasn't) there are not only the trailers but a few pages of trivia for each film PLUS a full length commentary by cast members. (I only listened to part of "... at your convenience"'s commentary but it's nice to know it's there. The author of the "Carry on Companion" asks the questions.
I prefer ".. at your convenience" on this set but both are good. AYC has a real plot - most Carry ons don't, and some really funny moments that are not sex related. (I love the parakeet that can pick winning horses!).
So, if you are a big fan of the Carry ons you'll relish this title. It's a time capsule of British Comedy before the Pythons took over!
I hope you found this review both informative and helpful.
